A gang of five armed robbers stormed Rusape Town Council offices last week but fled empty-handed after their explosives failed to blow up the cash vaults.
ZRP Manicaland acting spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the incident, saying the robbers tied up a security guard Baldwin Dumbuka and force-marched him into the council offices. Said Chinyoka:

On April 10, at around 6pm, Mr Dumbuka commenced duty at Rusape Town Council premises and everything was in order.
 The following day around 1am, Mr Dumbuka was approached by five unknown males wearing balaclavas.
They were armed with iron bars and a bolt cutter. The first suspect pushed open the guardroom door and ordered Mr Dumbuka to lie down, tied his legs using blanket threads which they brought. They told him that they only needed cash, and did not want to harm him.
Four others broke into the offices, while one of them remained at the guard room guarding the complainant.
The robbers failed to locate where the safe was, and one of them returned to the guardroom, untied the complainant and force-marched him into the cash office.
The complainant showed them, and he was tied again, and ordered to lie down in the passage covered with trench coats.

Chinyoka added that the robbers allegedly used explosives in an attempt to blast open the safe, forcibly opened and ransacked several offices in search of cash, and also took the complainant’s small cellphone and two Buddie lines. They left the security guard tied up.
Despite having his legs still bound, Dumbuka managed to hop outside the offices and alerted Hatidane Zvakare, a security guard at the neighbouring Rusape Magistrates’ Court. Zvakare cut the bindings and notified the police.
Officers from ZRP Rusape Central and CID Rusape attended the scene, but no arrests were made.
On April 11, around 9:30 a.m., a team comprising Scenes of Crime (Harare), CID Rusape, and Rusape Central revisited the scene. 
They confirmed that while the suspects had attempted to blast the safe, they failed to open it, and no cash was stolen.

Armed Robbers Fail To Break Safe At Rusape Town Council

Around 30 armed robbers, some dressed in camouflage, pounced on a Chinese-owned gold mine, Ming Chang Sino Africa Mine, in the Tafuna area of Shamva, Mashonaland Central, on April 13.
The robbers stole a small amount of gold, about $7,000 in cash, 50 mobile phones, and two shotguns.
The robbery started around 11:20 PM when 13 masked men, armed with pistols and batons, approached the mine’s main entrance. Ten of them were wearing military-style clothing. They overpowered two security guards.
At the same time, 17 other robbers climbed over the fence and rounded up more than 50 mine workers. The workers were forced to lie down, beaten, and ordered to hand over their valuables.
The mine’s general manager, Yuehui Du (45), was forced to lead the robbers to his office, where they took five phones and $1,200 in cash.
In another office, the store manager, Jie Bao (38), was robbed of $3,200, 20 grammes of gold, and two phones.
The workers were also searched and lost a total of $2,564 in cash. In total, the robbers stole 50 mobile phones from the managers and workers.
Two Mossberg shotguns were taken from the security guards.

A 40-year-old man from Masvingo was robbed of US$2,300 after boarding a pirate taxi, known as a “Mushikashika,” in Harare on Wednesday.
Luckmore Mudzamiri, from Rhodhine in Masvingo, was heading to his brother’s house in Ruwa when he boarded a silver Toyota Aqua at the Simon Muzenda Street commuter rank.
The vehicle already had four occupants and Mudzamiri sat in the back seat between two of the men who later turned out to be armed robbers.
As the vehicle neared an intersection close to Eastlea, one of the robbers pulled out a screwdriver, while the other pressed a knife to Mudzamiri’s neck and ordered him to hand over his belongings.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Harare Province, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the robbery. He said:

The accused persons forced the complainant to surrender his belongings, satchel containing toiletries, defensive certificate, national ID, two Itel cellphones and US$2 160.
The accused persons later dumped the complainant along Hillside Extension and drove off. Total value stolen is US$2300.

A man from Masvingo was robbed of US$2,300 after getting into a pirate taxi called "Mushikashika" in Harare. The man boarded the taxi to go to his brother's house but ended up sitting between armed robbers. South African police shot dead one suspect and arrested five others following a shootout in Westdene, Sophiatown, on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Of the five arrested, two are in the hospital under police guard after sustaining injuries during the shootout.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed the incident, saying the suspects, believed to be involved in several robberies at churches and places of worship, exchanged gunfire with law enforcement officers. The statement reads:

The suspects are believed to be involved in a number of incidents where churches and places of worship were robbed.
 They were found in possession of unlicensed firearms and music instruments that they allegedly stole from a church in Florida.
Police crime intelligence received information about the suspects who were committing armed robberies and break-ins at places of worship around Gauteng. The information was that a group was to rob a church in Florida.
Various law enforcement agencies that include South African Police Service Counter Intelligence Head Office, Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Tracking Team, Gauteng Tactical Response Team, Gauteng Anti-Gang Unit, Gauteng Traffic Police Air Wing, CAP Specialised Operations, Tracker Connect and Bad Boyz Security was activated to intercept the suspects.
As they were on a lookout, the team spotted a Toyota Quantum that was said to be used by the suspects driving in Sophiatown. 
The suspects sped off as they were stopped by the police. A chase ensued. During the chase, the suspects started shooting at the law enforcement officers and a shootout ensued. The suspects’ car crashed into a fence.
Five suspects were arrested and one was fatally wounded. Two suspects amongst the five were wounded during the shootout and under police guard in hospital.

The statement further reveals that police recovered three firearms and ammunition from the suspects, along with a music system valued at over R2 million, which was found in the vehicle.
The music system is believed to have been stolen from a church in Florida. Police also seized the Toyota Quantum used in the commission of the crime.
The suspects will undergo profiling, and the firearms will be sent for ballistic tests to determine if they were used in the commission of other crimes.

In South Africa, the police stopped an armed gang targeting churches. One suspect died, five were arrested, and two were injured in a shootout. SA: One Dead, Five Arrested As Police Pounce On Armed Gang Targeting Churches

Six armed robbers were fatally shot during an exchange of gunfire with detectives near the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road tollgate on March 18, 2025, between 2 AM and 4 AM.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
He said the suspects had robbed the Young Money General Dealer Shop in Insuza, loading their stolen goods into a silver Honda Fit before fleeing the scene.
The victims reported the robbery to the police, who swiftly deployed a team of detectives. The Honda Fit was spotted heading towards the tollgate, and when the officers ordered the suspects to stop, the robbers responded by opening fire. This triggered a gunfight that resulted in the suspects’ deaths. The statement reads:

Detectives ordered the suspects to stop. Instead, the suspects fired shots towards the Police officers leading to a shoot-out.
The suspects went on to hit the boom gate at the toll gate. They were arrested and taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals where they all unfortunately passed on. The Police recovered two pistols with four live rounds, two gas-operated stoves, two knives and an axe.
Some of the property stolen from the complainants which include groceries, a lithium battery and inverter, nine gas tanks and an amplifier were recovered from the vehicle.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that there is no going back in the fight against armed robbery syndicates in the country.
Any form of confrontation by criminals will be responded to through appropriate measures.

Police have confirmed the arrest of two foreign nationals, Aruna Saidu and Foday Kamry, in connection with a series of robbery incidents in Harare and surrounding areas.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 11 March, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the suspects were intercepted in Karoi, where they were apprehended following a high-speed chase and a shootout with the police. The statement reads:

Two Foreign Nationals Linked To Multiple Robberies Captured After High-Speed Chase And Shootout In Karoi

Police in Harare have arrested four suspects in connection with an armed robbery at the Meru Service Station in Kuwadzana on 3 March.
According to an H-Metro report, 47-year-old Hilary Hufa was attacked by seven armed robbers as he was about to leave the service station on High Glen Road.
Hufa had collected US$37,000 from the Mbare branch, US$45,000 from the Whitehouse branch, and an additional US$45,000 from the Kuwadzana branch at the time of the robbery.
In a statement issued on Friday, 7 March, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi clarified that the stolen cash amounted to US$129,111. Said Nyathi:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Willard Zvinorukwa (48), Ernest Manzunzu (45), Ashwin Mukondwa (30), and Bornface Masora (31) in connection with a robbery case which occurred on 3rd March 2025 at Meru Service Station, Kuwadzana, Harare where US$129,111.00 cash was stolen.
On 6th March 2025, detectives from CID Homicide Harare received information that one of the suspects involved in the robbery was in Chitungwiza.
The officers followed up on the lead and located Willard Zvinorukwa at number 5282, Unit O, Seke, Chitungwiza. Zvinorukwa attempted to flee, prompting the detectives to fire warning shots.
However, he continued to flee until the detectives shot him once on the right shin, leading to his arrest.
The Detectives interviewed Zvinorukwa, who implicated eight other suspects who include Ernest Manzunzu, Ashwin Mukondwa, and Bornface Masora. 
The Police followed up on the leads and arrested Ernest Manzunzu at number 17599 Kingsdale, Norton. Manzunzu was interviewed, he implicated several other suspects who are still at large.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Ashwin Mukondwa at his residence in Masona Village, Seke. 
Mukondwa also implicated several others and led the detectives to the arrest of Bornface Masora, who had an outstanding warrant of arrest for an armed robbery case in Karoi,
Police investigations revealed that the suspects shared the loot and received varying amounts of cash, ranging from US$4,000 to US$10,000, which they used to purchase goods and lend money to others. 
Recovered items include US$16,240 cash, a wardrobe, a kitchen unit, a television, kitchen utensils, and a cellphone.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that there is no going back in the fight against armed robbery cases in the country.
The crack teams set up by the Commissioner- General of Police are highly alert and will respond appropriately to reports of armed robbery.

Meru Service Station Armed Robbers Arrested, US$16,240 Recovered

Armed robbers allegedly seized US$127,000 on Monday, which had been collected from three fuel service stations in Harare.
Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Harare Province, confirmed the robbery to <a href="https://www.heraldonline.co.zw/armed-robbers-steal-us127k-from-service-stations/">H-Metro</a> and said that investigations are underway.
It is alleged that 47-year-old Hilary Hufa was attacked by seven armed robbers as he was about to leave Meru Service Station on High Glen Road.
Hufa had collected US$37,000 from the Mbare branch, US$45,000 from the Whitehouse branch, and another US$45,000 from the Kuwadzana branch.

A man named Hilary Hufa was robbed of US$127,000 while leaving a fuel station in Harare. He had collected the money from three different fuel stations. Meru Employee Robbed Of US$127,000 After Collecting Cash From Fuel Stations

Police have confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with a robbery and a case of unlawful entry into premises and theft.
In a statement, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the suspects were arrested after detectives from CID Homicide in Harare received a tip-off that one of the suspects had sustained a gunshot wound.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect had been shot by his accomplices during a robbery at a house near Dema Tollgate, Seke, Mashonaland East. Said Nyathi:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Richmore Munhundiyani alias Dovi / Halala / Sebede (42), Ropafadzo Bhero alias Ropa (24) Maxwell Tinarwo (60), James Mucheri (43), Francis Alfandika alias Africans (46) and Fungai Sithole (42) alias Bhudha for a spate of robbery cases and a case of unlawful entry into premises and theft which occurred in and around Harare between 12th September 2024 and 05th February 2025.
The arrest of the suspects follows a crime tip received by detectives from CID Homicide, Harare that one of the suspects, Richmore Munhundiyani had a gunshot wound on the right leg.
The detectives acted on the information and arrested the suspect at Forward Shopping Centre, Chitungwiza, Harare.
Investigations by the Police established that the suspect was shot by his accomplices during a robbery incident at a house near Dema Tollgate, Seke.
The suspect implicated the other suspects leading to their arrest on 09th February 2025 and recovery of a 0.38 mm Smith and Wesson Revolver with a magazine of six live rounds, two plasma television sets, solar panels, gas stoves, a car battery and car radio, among other household goods.
The suspects are being linked to four cases of robbery and a case of unlawful entry into premises and theft, including a case of robbery which occurred on 12th January 2025 at a house at Mangwende Village, Seke where a king-size bed, solar panels, four cellphones, curtains and other household goods were stolen as well as another robbery incident which occurred on 21st January 2025 at a homestead at Chanakira Village, Seke where two cellphones and USD$2 030.00 cash were stolen.
The suspects are also clearing a case of unlawful entry into premises which occurred on 12th September 2024 at a house in Glenview 3, Harare where a 32-inch television set, blankets and other household goods were stolen.

Gunshot Wound Leads To Arrest Of Armed Robbery Gang

Three suspected armed robbers were arrested in Bulawayo after one of their accomplices accidentally left behind his wallet at the crime scene.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident which occurred at Bambanani Shopping Centre in Gumtree on February 2, 2025, around 8 AM.
The suspects—Hopewell Ndlovu (32) of Pelandaba West, Emmanuel Masuku (29), also known as Mayibongwe, and Israel Zikhali (26) of Pumula South—were taken into custody. However, a fourth suspect, Mpumelelo Mafu, is still on the run.
Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele (pictured) told <a href="https://cite.org.zw/robber-drops-wallet-lands-gang-in-jail/">CITE</a> that the wallet found at the scene led officers to Ndlovu.
His arrest led to the recovery of weapons used in the robbery, and he later provided information that implicated his accomplices. She said:

We recovered an Okapi knife, the clothing he wore during the robbery, and some of the stolen cellphones.
He then identified his accomplices, leading to their arrests and the recovery of a .303 rifle without a butt, a pistol with no magazine or rounds, and additional stolen cellphones.

Msebele further revealed that the suspects were armed with a pistol and threatened the shopkeeper and her colleagues, ordering them to remain still.
One of the suspects then approached the counter and stole approximately US$700 in cash, along with US$200 worth of NetOne and Econet airtime. She added:

They also made off with several cellphones, including an Itel P38 (black), an iPhone 11 (silver-black), two small black Itel phones, and four unidentified cellphones belonging to customers that were charging in the shop before fleeing along Old Esigodini Road.

Armed Robbers Captured After One Of Them Dropped A wallet At Crime Scene

Two armed robbers, Munyaradzi Sigareta Zakaria (38) and Zvikomborero Rukoni Zvikoni (29) were sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of robbery by the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the two offenders lured their victims by offering transport in a white Toyota Probox (registration AGC 3919). Once inside, they produced knives, threatened the victims, and forcibly took their belongings.
On 20 October 2023, Zakaria and Zvikoni, along with two accomplices who are still at large, committed two separate robberies in Harare:
In the first incident, which took place in Marlborough along Harare Drive, the offenders threatened Bernadette Yvete Chafachinoyaura with knives and stole her Samsung Galaxy M02 phone, US$13, a silver engagement ring, and other items.
In the second incident, on Lomagundi Road, they blindfolded Patience Dadirai Choto, held a knife to her, and stole her belongings.

Two men, Zakaria and Zvikoni, got 10 year jail for robbing people they gave rides to. They used a white car to trick people and then stole their things by threatening them with knives. They did two robberies in Harare in October. In one, they took a phone, money, and a ring from Bernadette. In the other, they scared Patience and took her stuff. Two other people helped them but ran away. Now Zakaria and Zvikoni will be in jail for a long time for their crimes.

Armed Robbers Who Stole From Passengers After Offering Rides Receive 10-Year Sentences

Three armed robbers linked to 14 armed robbery cases in Masvingo have received long sentences. One robber was sentenced to 95 years, while the other two received 125 years each.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the trio—Clever Svuure (28), Vusumuzi Bhebhe (25), and Yasin Joseph (21)—committed a series of robberies in Masvingo.
Nyathi said the three were arrested in Masvingo after Police received information linking them to the robbery cases. He added:

The arrests led to the recovery of a Mazda Axela vehicle, registration number AEQ 0533, various cellphones, groceries, solar panels and various household goods.
The trio were linked to 14 armed robbery cases including the one which occurred on 15th January 2025 at around 0035 hours at a house in Clipsham View, Masvingo where the Mazda Axela vehicle, registration number AEQ 0533, USD 20.00 cash, a laptop and three cellphones were stolen, and another robbery case which occurred on the same day at around 0350 hours at a house at Lot A Victoria Range, Masvingo where the complainant was attacked with a machete before two cellphones, cash and valuables were stolen.

Commissioner Nyathi said the trio appeared at Masvingo Regional Magistrate Court on 22 January 2025, where they were convicted and sentenced.
Clever Svuure was sentenced to 95 years in prison, while Vusumuzi Bhebhe and Yasin Joseph received 125 years each.
Nyathi also praised the public and the judiciary for ensuring that the robbers were brought to justice.

Masvingo Armed Robbers Sentenced To 125 Years In Prison Each

Police have confirmed the arrest of seven suspects in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Monday, January 20, 2025, at around 02:20 AM at a company in Southerton, Harare.
The suspects made off with a safe containing US$12,000 in cash, a Nissan NP300 motor vehicle, a Closed Circuit Television Video Digital Recorder, an HP laptop, and other valuables.
Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, identified the suspects as Tapiwanashe Bakasa (30), Rodgers Magreen (28), Tinashe Thompson (30), Tatenda Mashayamombe (29), Peter Mahwite (49), Anymore Gatsi (38), and Wilson Masvosve (35). Added Commissioner Nyathi:

The stolen vehicle was recovered dumped at the corner of Robert Mugabe and Julius Nyerere, Harare Central Business District.
On 20th January 2025 in the afternoon, detectives from CID Homicide received information that the suspects had driven the stolen vehicle to a house along Mutatarimbo Road, Mufakose before dumping it in Harare Central Business District.
The detectives tracked the suspects to Mufakose resulting in the arrest of Tapiwanashe Bakasa and the recovery of the safe with various company documents and Closed Circuit Television Video Digital Recorder.

Police said Tapiwanashe Bakasa implicated Rodgers Magreen, leading to his arrest in Stoneridge, Harare, and the recovery of US$1,565 in cash and an HP laptop.
Rodgers Magreen then implicated Tinashe Thompson, who was arrested at Chibwe Shopping Centre, Stoneridge, Harare.
Subsequently, detectives recovered a Unique Pistol with an empty magazine, pepper spray, an okapi knife, US$800 in cash, and a motorcycle which the suspect allegedly bought for US$1,200 using the stolen funds.
According to Nyathi, the other suspects, Tatenda Mashayamombe, Peter Mahwite, Anymore Gatsi, and Wilson Masvosve, were arrested in Mbare on the same day.

Seven people were arrested for stealing US$12,000 and other items from a company in Southerton, Harare. The police found the stolen car and some of the stolen items at different locations. One suspect led to the arrest of another, and so on, until all seven were caught. Some of the stolen money was used to buy a motorcycle. All the suspects were captured on the same day in different places. The police were able to recover some of the stolen items.

Seven Suspects Arrested In US$12,000 Southerton Heist

Two suspected armed robbers were apprehended on December 29, 2024, by detectives following a high-speed chase in the Harare Central Business District.
ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the suspects are connected to multiple armed robbery incidents that took place in and around Harare between December 21 and December 29, 2024.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Mufaro Mupandira, 29, and Brandon Chitiyo, 21. A third suspect, Fidelis Muchemwa, remains at large.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Mufaro Mupandira (29) and Brandon Chitiyo (21) in connection with a spate of robbery cases which occurred in and around Harare between 21st and 29th December 2024.
The suspects targeted taxis and private vehicles after posing as genuine passengers.
On 29th December 2024, detectives from the CID Vehicle Theft Squad received information which linked the suspects to the robbery cases.
The detectives made a follow-up and tracked the suspects, leading to their arrest at the corner of Kenneth Kaunda and Angwa Street, Harare Central Business District, following a high-speed chase from Sam Nujoma Bus Terminus.
The arrest led to the recovery of a Mazda Familia vehicle, registration number AGH 5691 which was stolen at Golf Club, Beatrice on 29th December 2024 after the suspects had hired the driver from Boka area, Harare. The vehicle was being used by the suspects as a getaway vehicle.
Subsequently, the suspects led the detectives to Coventry Road, Harare where they claimed to have hidden machetes which they used in the commission of robberies. However, upon arrival at the scene, the suspects attempted to escape and were both shot on the legs.
The suspects are being linked to four cases of robbery of motor vehicles, including a robbery incident which occurred on 21st December 2024 in which a Honda Fit vehicle, AFM 9236, a cellphone and USD 17.00 were stolen in Chitungwiza after the suspects hired the vehicle from Murisa Business Centre to Besa Village, Seke.
Further, the suspects are clearing a case of robbery which occurred on 22nd December 2024 in Domboshava where a Honda Fit taxi, registration number AEL 7871, USD 39.00 and a cellphone were stolen after the suspects posed as genuine passengers who were travelling to Ngomakurira Business Centre, Domboshava. Along the way, the taxi driver was attacked and later dumped at Chabwino Farm, Juru.

Gunshots Fired As Armed Robbers Hit Kamunhu Shopping Centre

A Nyanga-based businessman was robbed of US$5,000 in cash, a vehicle, and other valuables by five armed robbers who attacked him as he returned home at night.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka, the Acting ZRP Manicaland Provincial spokesperson, confirmed that the victim, Edward Tsarwe, was severely assaulted during the robbery on December 6.
Tsarwe sustained head injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Nyanga District Hospital. Said Chinyoka:

Mr Edward Tsarwe was coming from Sedze Business Centre using a Toyota Hilux vehicle (Registration Number AAB 6866) which was being driven by his son, Shelton.

One of the robbers produced a pistol and pointed it at Shelton, demanding cash. Another robber tied Shelton’s hands with a rope, and forced him to lie down, while the other suspect drove the vehicle into the yard.
The robbers knocked at the main door where the complainant’s wife was sleeping. She opened the door, and the robbers stormed into the house holding a pistol, demanding cash. Fearing for her life, Mr Tsarwe’s wife surrendered US$ 5,000 to them.
The robbers allegedly searched the house, stole a 48-inch plasma television, two iPhones and seven blankets, and drove away with a Nissan X-trail vehicle.

All the stolen property is valued at US$ 10,000, and nothing was recovered. Added Chinyoka:

Nyanga Businessman Assaulted And Robbed Of US$5,000, Vehicle

A police officer from the Harare Central Business District traffic section, 39-year-old Linos Chigonera, was robbed of US$530 after boarding a mushikashika vehicle this week.
Chigonera, along with his colleague Marshal Kumbirai Kusanwa, also 39, boarded a white Honda Fit without registration plates in Belvedere around 9 PM, intending to travel to Harare’s CBD. The vehicle was occupied by three men and one woman.
During the ride, two men seated next to Chigonera and Kusanwa pulled out an okapi knife and demanded valuables.
Chigonera handed over US$530 from his wallet and an M-Horse Smart cellphone, while Kusanwa surrendered US$1 and two cellphones— a Samsung Note 10 and a G-Tel device. The robbers then tied their hands with ropes before abandoning them along the route.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/mushikashika-why-are-some-cops-doing-exactly-what-they-are-telling-us-not-to-do/">H-Metro</a>, saying that Chigonera and Kusanwa lost a total of US$860 to the criminals.
Earlier this week, another police officer, 42-year-old Assistant Inspector Dickson Mashada, fell victim to a similar crime.
Mashada boarded a mushikashika with two female passengers and a male passenger, travelling from Harare CBD to Newlands.
During the journey, one of the women grabbed him by the neck, while the other produced a knife and demanded his wallet.
They searched him, taking his wallet containing US$420, his police ID, national ID, and bank cards.
The robbers then dumped Mashada opposite Kebab Centre and drove off towards Newlands Shopping Centre around 7 PM.

Police Officers Robbed After Boarding Mushikashika

Police in Bulawayo have launched an investigation into a robbery that took place at a business premises in Western Commonage on Friday.

The robbers then forced their way into the offices, where they used grinders to break into cash safes.

United Refineries Limited’s administration offices at Kelvin Industrial Area in Bulawayo were broken into during the early hours of Friday, with the intruders making off with thousands of United States dollars and South African rands.
The company confirmed the theft in a statement, revealing that the intruders immobilised security guards before disabling CCTV equipment.
They then used precision cutting tools to access the company’s strong rooms and safes, stealing US$11,069, R20,481, and P80.

Armed Gang Steals US$7,000 and R18,000 At Bulawayo Business Premises

A gang of three suspected armed robbers have been arrested in Bulawayo. Mkhaliphi Ncube, alias Mlonitshwa (25), of Cowdray Park, and Givemore Dladla (23) and Timothy Dube (28), both of 1257 Mbundane, were arrested on Tuesday.
According to CID spokesperson Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, the suspects would carry out their raids while the occupants were asleep, targeting homes for theft. She said (via <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/three-bulawayo-robbers-arrested/">The Herald</a>):
On November 14 at around 2:30 AM, the trio, together with their accomplices who are still at large pounced on the complainants who were fast asleep.
They damaged burglar bars and windows before gaining entry into the house, where they indiscriminately assaulted the complainants demanding cash and other valuables.
Fearing for their safety, the complainants surrendered $2 500, 10 cellphones, two metal detector batteries and four power banks.
On Tuesday, detectives from CID Homicide Bulawayo received information that the suspects were involved in the robbery and a follow-up was made leading to their arrest. Said Detective Insp Muteweri:
A Honda Fit Registration number AFC 1284 and three axes used in the commission of the crime were subsequently recovered. Also recovered were four cell phones, which the complainants have positively identified.
The suspects are also clearing another robbery case that occurred in Pumula, Bulawayo where they also robbed another complainant and got away with valuables.
In a related case, the CID Homicide team has arrested Lloyd Mujeketa (25) for vehicle theft, which occurred on Sunday.
The victim had left his Honda Fit unattended and unlocked, only to discover it missing upon his return.
Mujeketa was apprehended on Tuesday in central Bulawayo while driving the stolen vehicle.

Three Arrested For Armed Robbery In Bulawayo

Tawanda Brian Dzvoti, a 38-year-old principal immigration officer stationed at Beitbridge Border Post, became the victim of a brazen robbery when his home was broken into by armed suspects who stole US$3,000, reported <a href="https://newsday.co.zw/southerneye/local/article/200035837/beitbridge-immigration-boss-robbed">Southern Eye</a>.
Appearing for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Takudzwa Mutyavaviri alleged that on November 26, the robbers, identified as Tapfumanei Russell Murozi (39) and Ashley Muchemwa (29), forced their way into Dzvoti’s house, demanding money.
During the ordeal, they dragged Dzvoti’s wife out of the house, subjected her to indecent harassment, and threatened her with violence.
In a desperate attempt to call for help, Dzvoti’s wife screamed, which alerted their neighbours. Hearing her cries, the neighbors quickly rallied to assist, preventing the suspects from escaping.
The robbers managed to steal US$2,820 from Dzvoti’s wallet and additional valuables from the house, including US$200 from his wife’s makeup kit. However, they were apprehended by the neighbours before they could flee the scene.
The suspects appeared before magistrate Sharon Rakafa, who remanded them in custody until December 10 for a bail application.

Brave Neighbors Foil Robbery Of Immigration Officer In Beitbridge

A Bulawayo man, Lewis Mbeli (28), is accused of hiring an armed robbery gang to steal money from an elderly family member of his employer who had recently returned from the diaspora, reported <a href="https://cite.org.zw/byo-man-hires-gang-to-rob-elderly-diasporan-employer/">CITE</a>.
Mbeli reportedly conspired with four associates to plan the robbery of Caroline Richards, a 70-year-old woman who had just returned from the United States. 
Together, they executed a plan that resulted in the victim and her family being robbed of US$5,000 in cash and valuables at gunpoint.
In court, the armed robbers were identified as Tyson Moyo (29), Zibusiso Ndlovu (28), Zibusiso Manungwa (29), and Nqobile Nxumalo (29).
Mbeli had informed the gang that Richards had arrived from the U.S. with a significant amount of money.
Later that evening, the four suspects arrived at Richards’ home in Woodville. Upon arrival, they notified Mbeli, who stepped outside under the pretence of feeding the dogs.
Allegedly, he returned to the house appearing to be forced at gunpoint by Moyo and Ndlovu, pretending to be a victim.
The five suspects appeared before Bulawayo Regional Magistrate Sibonginkosi Mkandla, facing six counts of armed robbery.
Magistrate Mkandla did not ask them to plead and advised them to seek bail from the High Court. They are being represented by Bob Siansole of Shenje and Company and Tinashe Runganga of Tanaka Law Chambers.
Prosecutor Dominic Moyo alleged that after entering the house with Mbeli, Moyo and Ndlovu demanded money from the family.
They reportedly stole $2,700 in cash, along with cell phones, a laptop, clothing, and other valuables, totalling approximately $5,000.
In a related case, two other suspects, Nduduzo Mthethwa (46) and Butho Ndlovu (28), appeared in court. Mthethwa allegedly recruited the same gang to rob his employer in Newton West.
According to Moyo, Mthethwa informed the gang that his employers were wealthy and suggested they be targeted.
To carry out the plan, Mthethwa and two accomplices invited the husband for drinks at a local bar to distract him, leaving his wife home alone.
Mbeli and three others then allegedly broke into the house, stealing cash, electronics, jewellery, handbags, hair products, and perfumes worth $1,500.
Magistrate Mkandla remanded all suspects in custody until December 13.

Three armed robbers attacked a security guard stationed at a company premises in Vainona, Harare, before breaking into offices and making off with more than US$36,000 in cash on Friday.
According to a statement posted on the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) X page, the suspects, who remain unidentified, were armed with pistols.
Along with the cash, the robbers also stole two laptops and a Bluetooth speaker during the heist. Police said:

In a separate incident, a man identified only as Bla Odza, who is suspected of stealing various clothes loaded in a pushcart, died after being assaulted by a mob on Sunday.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Bla Odza and his alleged accomplice, Onias Marenga (20), were attacked by the crowd.
Bla Odza suffered multiple bruises across his body and lost consciousness. He was rushed to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspects were tracked and spotted at their hideout in Luveve, Bulawayo, where they fired at detectives, leading to a shootout.

The suspects are also clearing a robbery case which occurred on 13th November 2024 at Reigate Township, Bulawayo where a Honda Fit vehicle, registration number, ADU 1198, a cellphone as well as ZAR 500-00 and USD 15.00 were stolen and another robbery case which occurred on 20th November 2024 at Chigumira Business Centre, Bulawayo where a Ford Ranger vehicle, registration number AFN 6255 was stolen. The vehicle was recovered at a railway crossing in Spitzkop, Gwanda.
Meanwhile, the Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspect, Elvis Charakupa (41) whose known address is 96/7878 Mpopoma Bulawayo.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident, saying the suspects were armed with an unknown firearm and a pistol.
The robbers attacked a couple and other family members in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, before making off with the cash, five cellphones, and a wristwatch. Police said:

US$26,000 Stolen In Armed Robbery At Cowdray Park Home

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of three more suspects linked to a series of 12 armed robbery cases targeting churches, businesses, and residential areas in Harare in October.
One of the suspects, Sydney Chemhere (42), alias Seedza, was apprehended while allegedly receiving spiritual deliverance from a traditional healer at a house in Glenview 1, Harare.
The arrests of Chemhere, Tinotenda Mabhandi (38), alias Timbobo, and Munyaradzi Gadzikwa (36) on November 12 followed the earlier capture of Spencer Mapfumo (42), Patrick Chibaba (38), alias Mupositori, Tarwirei Madzudzu (50), Paddington Meki (44), and Washington Marunze (36) on November 4.
ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi issued a statement confirming the arrests and providing further details on the investigation into the string of robberies. Reads the statement:

Reference is made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s press statement released on 04th November 2024 on the arrest of Spencer Mapfumo (42), Patrick Chibaba alias Mupositori (38), Tarwirei Madzudzu alias Mukanya (50), Paddington Meki (44) and Washington Marunze (36) in connection with seven cases of armed robbery including an armed robbery incident which occurred on 28th October 2024 at Dinwoo Investments, Workington, Harare where US$ 30 000.00 cash was stolen.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of three additional suspects in connection with the armed robbery cases. The suspects are, Sydney Chemhere alias Seedza (42), Tinotenda Mabhandi alias Timbobo (38) and Munyaradzi Gadzikwa (36).
On 11th November 2024, detectives from CID Homicide, Harare arrested Sydney Chemhere after receiving information that he was hiding in Glenview 7, Harare. The arrest led to the recovery of eight Emex explosives and three fuse cables.
Tinotenda Mabhande was later arrested at Makomva Shops, Glenview, Harare. Munyaradzi Gadzikwa was arrested on 12th November 2024 while allegedly receiving spiritual deliverance from a traditional healer at a house in Glenview 1, Harare.
The three suspects are further clearing five cases of robbery which occurred between 31st July 2024 and 03rd October 2024 in Harare, including a case of armed robbery which occurred on 31st July 2024 at a church in Budiriro 5B, Harare where USD 2 599.00 cash, a cellphone and three passports were stolen and another case of armed robbery which occurred on 18th August 2024 at a house along Chinhamora Street, Ruwa where USD 2 300.00 cash was stolen.
The suspects are also linked to a case of robbery which occurred on 03rd October 2024 at a private security company along Lighton Road, Avondale, Harare where USD 80.00 cash, a laptop, four 303 rifles, a 0.22 rifle, three revolvers and several plastic bags containing live ammunition were stolen.
All in all, the suspects are clearing twelve cases of armed robbery where churches, companies and residential areas were targeted. Investigations are ongoing to link the suspects to other robbery cases.

ZRP Arrests Three More Suspects Linked To Armed Robbery Syndicate

A senior Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer has warned security companies that if their guards continue to be involved in criminal activities, such as armed robberies, the companies will be seen as criminal groups pretending to be security providers.
The Officer Commanding Harare province, Commissioner Maxwell Chikunguru, urged security companies to regularly check their guards’ lifestyles to ensure they are not living beyond their means. Familiarise yourselves with their backgrounds and behaviours to ensure they align with their responsibilities.
Do not hesitate to terminate the employment of individuals with criminal histories. Never compromise your integrity for profit by hiring criminals.
If your guards continue to be implicated in crime, we will have no choice but to view your organisation as a criminal syndicate masquerading as a security provider.

Commissioner Chikunguru suggested that the police and security companies work together more closely to address this issue. He said:

Second, I urge you to engage us in helping you vet and train your guards. We welcome the opportunity to address your guards directly, providing them with security tips that can enhance their skills. Invite us to your companies and allow us to assist in this critical area.
Additionally, we can provide counselling for guards struggling with substance abuse, which can adversely affect their performance and effectiveness.

In his third proposal, Commissioner Chikunguru suggested that the police should be given the authority to jointly monitor security guards during night patrols. He said:

You can establish log books for our police officers to sign when they pass by your premises. The finer details of this arrangement can be worked out between your organisation and the local police station, ensuring we collaborate effectively to maintain security. Lastly, I ask for unity in our march against crime.
Collaborate closely with our public relations officers to receive the latest crime tips, share intelligence, and form social media groups to enhance our collective efforts in combating crime.
This united approach will not only strengthen our response but also foster a sense of community vigilance essential in our fight against criminal activities.

Detective Inspector Anele Mkandla, acting officer-in-charge of CID Homicide (Harare), has expressed concern over the increasing number of house and business robberies in Zimbabwe.
He said security guards are being tricked and overpowered by robbers due to inadequate training in firearm use adding that there is a need for better training to help security guards respond effectively to violent crimes.
Mkandla also noted that many business premises rely on security guards and alarm systems, but guards are often captured and disarmed.
Armed robberies have targeted security companies, with reaction teams being cornered and their service pistols stolen, which are then used in other robberies.
Mkandla urged security companies to improve training and support for their guards to combat the rise in violent crimes.

ZRP Urges Security Firms To Conduct Lifestyle Audits On Guards

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that took place at Pircy Farm, Goromonzi, on November 6, 2024. During the robbery, thieves made off with US$3,000 in cash and valuables estimated at US$10,000.
The suspect, identified as Sarezi Shonhiwa (57), was arrested on November 9 at Zin’anga Village in Seke by detectives from the CID Homicide division.
According to the ZRP, the robbery was captured on CCTV, and images of the suspects were shared on social media as part of a public appeal for information.
The robbers, armed with machetes and pistols, gained access to the farm by cutting through a backyard fence.
They entered the house through an open kitchen door, where they attacked the farm owners and stole cash, clothing, two speakers, three cellphones, laptops, jewellery, groceries, and three firearms.
In a statement released on November 10, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that Shonhiwa had admitted to his involvement in the robbery and had implicated his accomplices in the crime. Said Comm. Nyathi:

ZRP Captures Goromonzi Farm Robbery Suspect After CCTV Images Shared

A Zimbabwean armed robber was killed, and his two accomplices sustained gunshot wounds following a shootout with security agents on Wednesday after a robbery in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng province, according to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
SAPS claimed that the trio opened fire after being cornered while counting their loot in a rented room.
The police said the Zimbabweans were subdued by officers from SAPS and a security company in the early hours of Thursday this week. SAPS said:

An investigation is underway following a business robbery at Elukwatini in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday November 6, 2024 at about 0130am.
Members of SAPS from Elukwatini in collaboration with a private security company responded to the robbery incident and in the process, the three suspects, Zimbabwean nationals, were reportedly shot, a matter subject to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate probe. One succumbed, while two others sustained some injuries.

According to the statement, SAPS received a tip-off about a robbery in progress at a local filling station at Nhlazatshe Crossings.
Upon arriving at the scene, they learned that the suspects had fled with cash, cigarettes, and betting vouchers.
A follow-up investigation led the police and their counterparts to a rented room where the suspects were cornered.
SAPS Mpumalanga provincial spokesperson Captain Magonseni Nkosi said:

It was in this place where the three were cornered and we are informed that they were still counting the cash believed to have been stolen during the said business robbery.
Instead of complying, the suspects fired some shots from inside the room and police had no option, but to fire back while moving into the room.
