A Nyanga-based businessman was robbed of US$5,000 in cash, a vehicle, and other valuables by five armed robbers who attacked him as he returned home at night.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka, the Acting ZRP Manicaland Provincial spokesperson, confirmed that the victim, Edward Tsarwe, was severely assaulted during the robbery on December 6.
Tsarwe sustained head injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Nyanga District Hospital. Said Chinyoka:

Mr Edward Tsarwe was coming from Sedze Business Centre using a Toyota Hilux vehicle (Registration Number AAB 6866) which was being driven by his son, Shelton.
Upon arrival at home, Mr Tsarwe disembarked to open the gate and five unknown male adults emerged from the dark, and attacked him with stones.
One of the robbers produced a pistol and pointed it at Shelton, demanding cash. Another robber tied Shelton’s hands with a rope, and forced him to lie down, while the other suspect drove the vehicle into the yard.
The robbers knocked at the main door where the complainant’s wife was sleeping. She opened the door, and the robbers stormed into the house holding a pistol, demanding cash. Fearing for her life, Mr Tsarwe’s wife surrendered US$ 5,000 to them.
The robbers allegedly searched the house, stole a 48-inch plasma television, two iPhones and seven blankets, and drove away with a Nissan X-trail vehicle.

All the stolen property is valued at US$ 10,000, and nothing was recovered. Added Chinyoka:

Mr Tsarwe sustained several cuts on the head and is admitted at Nyanga District Hospital where he is in a stable condition. Police are appealing for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Nyanga Businessman Assaulted And Robbed Of US$5,000, Vehicle

A police officer from the Harare Central Business District traffic section, 39-year-old Linos Chigonera, was robbed of US$530 after boarding a mushikashika vehicle this week.
Chigonera, along with his colleague Marshal Kumbirai Kusanwa, also 39, boarded a white Honda Fit without registration plates in Belvedere around 9 PM, intending to travel to Harare’s CBD. The vehicle was occupied by three men and one woman.
During the ride, two men seated next to Chigonera and Kusanwa pulled out an okapi knife and demanded valuables.
Chigonera handed over US$530 from his wallet and an M-Horse Smart cellphone, while Kusanwa surrendered US$1 and two cellphones— a Samsung Note 10 and a G-Tel device. The robbers then tied their hands with ropes before abandoning them along the route.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/mushikashika-why-are-some-cops-doing-exactly-what-they-are-telling-us-not-to-do/">H-Metro</a>, saying that Chigonera and Kusanwa lost a total of US$860 to the criminals.
Earlier this week, another police officer, 42-year-old Assistant Inspector Dickson Mashada, fell victim to a similar crime.
Mashada boarded a mushikashika with two female passengers and a male passenger, travelling from Harare CBD to Newlands.
During the journey, one of the women grabbed him by the neck, while the other produced a knife and demanded his wallet.
They searched him, taking his wallet containing US$420, his police ID, national ID, and bank cards.
The robbers then dumped Mashada opposite Kebab Centre and drove off towards Newlands Shopping Centre around 7 PM.

Police Officers Robbed After Boarding Mushikashika

Police in Bulawayo have launched an investigation into a robbery that took place at a business premises in Western Commonage on Friday.
According to a statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) posted on X, 10 suspects armed with three AK-47 rifles and a pistol attacked six security guards on duty.
The robbers then forced their way into the offices, where they used grinders to break into cash safes.
The suspects made off with US$7,000 and R18,000 in cash.
The ZRP is urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward and report it to the nearest police station.
United Refineries Limited’s administration offices at Kelvin Industrial Area in Bulawayo were broken into during the early hours of Friday, with the intruders making off with thousands of United States dollars and South African rands.
The company confirmed the theft in a statement, revealing that the intruders immobilised security guards before disabling CCTV equipment.
They then used precision cutting tools to access the company’s strong rooms and safes, stealing US$11,069, R20,481, and P80.

Armed Gang Steals US$7,000 and R18,000 At Bulawayo Business Premises

A gang of three suspected armed robbers have been arrested in Bulawayo. Mkhaliphi Ncube, alias Mlonitshwa (25), of Cowdray Park, and Givemore Dladla (23) and Timothy Dube (28), both of 1257 Mbundane, were arrested on Tuesday.
According to CID spokesperson Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, the suspects would carry out their raids while the occupants were asleep, targeting homes for theft. She said (via <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/three-bulawayo-robbers-arrested/">The Herald</a>):
On November 14 at around 2:30 AM, the trio, together with their accomplices who are still at large pounced on the complainants who were fast asleep.
They damaged burglar bars and windows before gaining entry into the house, where they indiscriminately assaulted the complainants demanding cash and other valuables.
Fearing for their safety, the complainants surrendered $2 500, 10 cellphones, two metal detector batteries and four power banks.
On Tuesday, detectives from CID Homicide Bulawayo received information that the suspects were involved in the robbery and a follow-up was made leading to their arrest. Said Detective Insp Muteweri:
A Honda Fit Registration number AFC 1284 and three axes used in the commission of the crime were subsequently recovered. Also recovered were four cell phones, which the complainants have positively identified.
The suspects are also clearing another robbery case that occurred in Pumula, Bulawayo where they also robbed another complainant and got away with valuables.
In a related case, the CID Homicide team has arrested Lloyd Mujeketa (25) for vehicle theft, which occurred on Sunday.
The victim had left his Honda Fit unattended and unlocked, only to discover it missing upon his return.
Mujeketa was apprehended on Tuesday in central Bulawayo while driving the stolen vehicle.

Three Arrested For Armed Robbery In Bulawayo

Tawanda Brian Dzvoti, a 38-year-old principal immigration officer stationed at Beitbridge Border Post, became the victim of a brazen robbery when his home was broken into by armed suspects who stole US$3,000, reported <a href="https://newsday.co.zw/southerneye/local/article/200035837/beitbridge-immigration-boss-robbed">Southern Eye</a>.
Appearing for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Takudzwa Mutyavaviri alleged that on November 26, the robbers, identified as Tapfumanei Russell Murozi (39) and Ashley Muchemwa (29), forced their way into Dzvoti’s house, demanding money.
During the ordeal, they dragged Dzvoti’s wife out of the house, subjected her to indecent harassment, and threatened her with violence.
In a desperate attempt to call for help, Dzvoti’s wife screamed, which alerted their neighbours. Hearing her cries, the neighbors quickly rallied to assist, preventing the suspects from escaping.
The robbers managed to steal US$2,820 from Dzvoti’s wallet and additional valuables from the house, including US$200 from his wife’s makeup kit. However, they were apprehended by the neighbours before they could flee the scene.
The suspects appeared before magistrate Sharon Rakafa, who remanded them in custody until December 10 for a bail application.

Brave Neighbors Foil Robbery Of Immigration Officer In Beitbridge

A Bulawayo man, Lewis Mbeli (28), is accused of hiring an armed robbery gang to steal money from an elderly family member of his employer who had recently returned from the diaspora, reported <a href="https://cite.org.zw/byo-man-hires-gang-to-rob-elderly-diasporan-employer/">CITE</a>.
Mbeli reportedly conspired with four associates to plan the robbery of Caroline Richards, a 70-year-old woman who had just returned from the United States. 
Together, they executed a plan that resulted in the victim and her family being robbed of US$5,000 in cash and valuables at gunpoint.
In court, the armed robbers were identified as Tyson Moyo (29), Zibusiso Ndlovu (28), Zibusiso Manungwa (29), and Nqobile Nxumalo (29).
Mbeli had informed the gang that Richards had arrived from the U.S. with a significant amount of money.
Later that evening, the four suspects arrived at Richards’ home in Woodville. Upon arrival, they notified Mbeli, who stepped outside under the pretence of feeding the dogs.
Allegedly, he returned to the house appearing to be forced at gunpoint by Moyo and Ndlovu, pretending to be a victim.
The five suspects appeared before Bulawayo Regional Magistrate Sibonginkosi Mkandla, facing six counts of armed robbery.
Magistrate Mkandla did not ask them to plead and advised them to seek bail from the High Court. They are being represented by Bob Siansole of Shenje and Company and Tinashe Runganga of Tanaka Law Chambers.
Prosecutor Dominic Moyo alleged that after entering the house with Mbeli, Moyo and Ndlovu demanded money from the family.
They reportedly stole $2,700 in cash, along with cell phones, a laptop, clothing, and other valuables, totalling approximately $5,000.
In a related case, two other suspects, Nduduzo Mthethwa (46) and Butho Ndlovu (28), appeared in court. Mthethwa allegedly recruited the same gang to rob his employer in Newton West.
According to Moyo, Mthethwa informed the gang that his employers were wealthy and suggested they be targeted.
To carry out the plan, Mthethwa and two accomplices invited the husband for drinks at a local bar to distract him, leaving his wife home alone.
Mbeli and three others then allegedly broke into the house, stealing cash, electronics, jewellery, handbags, hair products, and perfumes worth $1,500.
Magistrate Mkandla remanded all suspects in custody until December 13.

Bulawayo Man Hires Gang To Rob Employer

Three armed robbers attacked a security guard stationed at a company premises in Vainona, Harare, before breaking into offices and making off with more than US$36,000 in cash on Friday.
According to a statement posted on the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) X page, the suspects, who remain unidentified, were armed with pistols.
Along with the cash, the robbers also stole two laptops and a Bluetooth speaker during the heist. Police said:

Police in Borrowdale are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a company in Vinona, Harare on 29/11/24 at around 0215 hours.
Three unidentified male suspects who were armed with unidentified types of pistols, attacked a security guard who was on duty.
The suspects broke into the company offices were they stole US$36 260.00 cash which was in a safe, two laptops and a bluetooth speaker. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.

In a separate incident, a man identified only as Bla Odza, who is suspected of stealing various clothes loaded in a pushcart, died after being assaulted by a mob on Sunday.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Bla Odza and his alleged accomplice, Onias Marenga (20), were attacked by the crowd.
Bla Odza suffered multiple bruises across his body and lost consciousness. He was rushed to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Ngundu Money Transfer Outlet Robbed Of US$46 000 And Nearly R1 Million

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a shoot-out incident and the subsequent arrest of Moketsi Ndlovu (18), Respect Khumalo (22), and Onias Tembo (19) in connection with a series of robbery cases in Bulawayo and Gwanda between July 2024 and November 20, 2024.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said on November 25, 2024, a police crack team in Bulawayo received a tip-off linking the suspects to the robbery cases.
The suspects were tracked and spotted at their hideout in Luveve, Bulawayo, where they fired at detectives, leading to a shootout.
The detectives disarmed and arrested the suspects, leading to the recovery of a 9 mm FN Browning Pistol with three live rounds and eight empty cartridges. Reads the statement:

The suspects are also clearing a robbery case which occurred on 13th November 2024 at Reigate Township, Bulawayo where a Honda Fit vehicle, registration number, ADU 1198, a cellphone as well as ZAR 500-00 and USD 15.00 were stolen and another robbery case which occurred on 20th November 2024 at Chigumira Business Centre, Bulawayo where a Ford Ranger vehicle, registration number AFN 6255 was stolen. The vehicle was recovered at a railway crossing in Spitzkop, Gwanda.
Meanwhile, the Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspect, Elvis Charakupa (41) whose known address is 96/7878 Mpopoma Bulawayo.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident, saying the suspects were armed with an unknown firearm and a pistol.
The robbers attacked a couple and other family members in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, before making off with the cash, five cellphones, and a wristwatch. Police said:

US$26,000 Stolen In Armed Robbery At Cowdray Park Home

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of three more suspects linked to a series of 12 armed robbery cases targeting churches, businesses, and residential areas in Harare in October.
One of the suspects, Sydney Chemhere (42), alias Seedza, was apprehended while allegedly receiving spiritual deliverance from a traditional healer at a house in Glenview 1, Harare.
The arrests of Chemhere, Tinotenda Mabhandi (38), alias Timbobo, and Munyaradzi Gadzikwa (36) on November 12 followed the earlier capture of Spencer Mapfumo (42), Patrick Chibaba (38), alias Mupositori, Tarwirei Madzudzu (50), Paddington Meki (44), and Washington Marunze (36) on November 4.
ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi issued a statement confirming the arrests and providing further details on the investigation into the string of robberies. Reads the statement:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of three additional suspects in connection with the armed robbery cases. The suspects are, Sydney Chemhere alias Seedza (42), Tinotenda Mabhandi alias Timbobo (38) and Munyaradzi Gadzikwa (36).
On 11th November 2024, detectives from CID Homicide, Harare arrested Sydney Chemhere after receiving information that he was hiding in Glenview 7, Harare. The arrest led to the recovery of eight Emex explosives and three fuse cables.
Tinotenda Mabhande was later arrested at Makomva Shops, Glenview, Harare. Munyaradzi Gadzikwa was arrested on 12th November 2024 while allegedly receiving spiritual deliverance from a traditional healer at a house in Glenview 1, Harare.
The three suspects are further clearing five cases of robbery which occurred between 31st July 2024 and 03rd October 2024 in Harare, including a case of armed robbery which occurred on 31st July 2024 at a church in Budiriro 5B, Harare where USD 2 599.00 cash, a cellphone and three passports were stolen and another case of armed robbery which occurred on 18th August 2024 at a house along Chinhamora Street, Ruwa where USD 2 300.00 cash was stolen.
The suspects are also linked to a case of robbery which occurred on 03rd October 2024 at a private security company along Lighton Road, Avondale, Harare where USD 80.00 cash, a laptop, four 303 rifles, a 0.22 rifle, three revolvers and several plastic bags containing live ammunition were stolen.
All in all, the suspects are clearing twelve cases of armed robbery where churches, companies and residential areas were targeted. Investigations are ongoing to link the suspects to other robbery cases.

The Officer Commanding Harare province, Commissioner Maxwell Chikunguru, urged security companies to regularly check their guards’ lifestyles to ensure they are not living beyond their means. ZRP Urges Security Firms To Conduct Lifestyle Audits On Guards

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that took place at Pircy Farm, Goromonzi, on November 6, 2024. During the robbery, thieves made off with US$3,000 in cash and valuables estimated at US$10,000.
The suspect, identified as Sarezi Shonhiwa (57), was arrested on November 9 at Zin’anga Village in Seke by detectives from the CID Homicide division.
According to the ZRP, the robbery was captured on CCTV, and images of the suspects were shared on social media as part of a public appeal for information.
The robbers, armed with machetes and pistols, gained access to the farm by cutting through a backyard fence.
They entered the house through an open kitchen door, where they attacked the farm owners and stole cash, clothing, two speakers, three cellphones, laptops, jewellery, groceries, and three firearms.
In a statement released on November 10, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that Shonhiwa had admitted to his involvement in the robbery and had implicated his accomplices in the crime. Said Comm. Nyathi:

ZRP Captures Goromonzi Farm Robbery Suspect After CCTV Images Shared

A Zimbabwean armed robber was killed, and his two accomplices sustained gunshot wounds following a shootout with security agents on Wednesday after a robbery in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng province, according to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
SAPS claimed that the trio opened fire after being cornered while counting their loot in a rented room.
The police said the Zimbabweans were subdued by officers from SAPS and a security company in the early hours of Thursday this week. SAPS said:

Members of SAPS from Elukwatini in collaboration with a private security company responded to the robbery incident and in the process, the three suspects, Zimbabwean nationals, were reportedly shot, a matter subject to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate probe. One succumbed, while two others sustained some injuries.

According to the statement, SAPS received a tip-off about a robbery in progress at a local filling station at Nhlazatshe Crossings.
Upon arriving at the scene, they learned that the suspects had fled with cash, cigarettes, and betting vouchers.
A follow-up investigation led the police and their counterparts to a rented room where the suspects were cornered.
SAPS Mpumalanga provincial spokesperson Captain Magonseni Nkosi said:

Pircy Farm Armed Robbers Caught On CCTV

Two armed robbers, Ashton Siziba (26) and Phinias Shumba (25), were sentenced to an effective 84 years each by the Chiredzi regional magistrate Judith Zuyu for robbing passengers on a Beitbridge-bound bus in July.
The robbery occurred on July 18, when the gang, posing as ordinary passengers, stole over US$8,600 and R62,000 from more than 40 passengers traveling on a Blue Circle bus.
The bus, carrying 45 passengers, was targeted by a four-man gang that included Siziba, Shumba, and their accomplice Sauro Dadirayi,23 ) of Sitauze area in Beitbridge is already serving his sentence after being tried separately. The second accomplice remains unidentified and at large.
The robbery took place around 2:30 AM near Rutenga along the Masvingo-Beitbridge highway after Siziba signaled the driver to stop, claiming he had reached his destination.
Once the bus stopped, Siziba brandished a black pistol and ordered the conductor back onto the bus, while Shumba and the others displayed okapi knives and directed the driver deeper into the bush.
The robbers collected cash from 31 passengers before ordering all male passengers to lie down and forcing female passengers off the bus. After the robbery, the gang escaped in an unidentified vehicle parked behind the bus.
Siziba, Shumba, and Dadirayi were apprehended after police received tips about their whereabouts at Mapurisa Business Centre in Maranda, leading to the recovery of stolen cash and the firearm used in the robbery.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Spencer Mapfumo (42), Patrick Chibaba alias Mupositori (38), Tarwirei Madzudzu alias Mukanya (50), Paddington Meki (44) and Washington Marunze (36) in connection with a case of robbery which occurred on 28th October 2024 at Dinwoo Investments, Workington, Harare where US$ 30 000.00 cash was stolen.
On 30th October 2024, detectives from CID Homicide Harare received information which linked Spencer Mapfumo to the offence.
The detectives tracked the suspect who was driving a Nissan AD Van with no registration plates and arrested him along Cameroon Street, Harare near Jumbo Wholesalers.
Investigations by the detectives established that Spencer Mapfumo had bought a Nissan AD Van using his share of the loot. The detectives recovered the vehicle, a firearm and US$ 37.00 cash.
Spencer Mapfumo implicated Patrick Chibaba, Tarwirei Madzudzu, Paddington Meki and Washington Marunze as his accomplices. He led the detectives to Patrick Chibaba’s place of residence in Eyecourt, Waterfalls, Harare.
On seeing that he was surrounded, Patrick Chibaba tried to escape and he was shot on the left foot leading to his arrest.
The detectives recovered US$2 020.00 cash, a black bag containing a 7.65 mm Tokarev pistol loaded with three rounds and a Relay blank Riyreroy pistol from the suspect.
The detectives also managed to arrest Tarwirei Madzudzu at his residence in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza after they fired a warning shot when the suspect tried to run away. The detectives recovered US$740.00 cash which was in the suspect’s house.
On 31st October 2024, the detectives acted on received information and tracked Paddington Meki to the intersection of Josiah Tongogara Avenue and Simon Muzenda Street where he was intercepted leading to his arrest.
The suspect was travelling in a red Honda Fit, vehicle registration number AFV 0438, to Domboshava where he intended to meet with his accomplices.
Patrick Chibaba also assisted the detectives in luring Washington Marunze to Julias Nyerere Street, Harare where he was subsequently arrested.
The detectives recovered a magazine loaded with a 7.65mm rounds, US$805.00 cash and a small silver and black bag from the suspect.
The suspects are clearing six armed robbery cases which occurred in and around Harare from July 2024 to October 2024.
Some of these cases include an armed robbery case which occurred on 20th August 2024 at around 0001 hours at ZAOGA Church, Glenorah A, Harare where US$4 000.00, £130.00, ZAR 5 610.00, BWP 120.00 and ZWG559.00 cash was stolen.
In another armed robbery case which occurred at Garfunkel, Prince Charles Airport, Mt Hampden, Harare on 07th October 2024, the suspects stole an expandable button stick and US$27 273.00 cash.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that Bornwell Mukwasi (32), Clive Mudiwa (25) and Nathan Mudiwa (22) were arrested in connection with a case of robbery which occurred at Rhi-Media Holdings, Harare on 29th October 2024 where computers and accessories valued at US$71 710.00 were stolen.
On 30th October 2024, detectives from CID Homicide Harare acted on received information and arrested Bornwell Mukwasi in Harare Central Business District. The suspect implicated Clive Mudiwa and Nathan Mudiwa as his accomplices.
Investigations by the detectives established that Bornwell Mukwasi had sent some of the loot to Beitbridge via a bus.
The police intercepted the bus and recovered three subwoofer speakers, an IMac monitor, a Dell laptop and a power cable.
On 31st October 2024, Clive Mudiwa and Nathan Mudiwa were also arrested in Budiriro, Harare in connection with this case.
The arrest of the two suspects led to the recovery of one speaker, a monarch, a bolt cutter, a machete, 11 mic transmitters, two body packs, 50 microphone cables, three studio monitors, an IMac pro monitor, two Canon CD5rs printers and various accessories all valued at US$65 000.00.

A resident of Chinhoyi was robbed of 33 grammes of gold, US$200 in cash, two cellphones, and a vehicle by six armed assailants on Thursday morning.
The robbers were reportedly armed with a pistol, machetes, and batons.
Police have confirmed the incident, saying the suspects drove the stolen vehicle, a white Isuzu KB250 with the registration number AEG 8270, to the residence of a second victim, where they also stole various groceries and another cellphone. Said the ZRP:

33 Grammes Of Gold Stolen In Chinhoyi Home Robbery

Four unidentified suspects, armed with machetes and an axe, carried out a series of robberies on Saturday, October 19.
They first targeted a financial institution, stealing US$5,000 and nearly ZAR24,000. The suspects then broke into a wholesale shop, taking US$1,000, and an Agro chemical shop, where they stole US$30 and a cellphone, according to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP). Said the ZRP:

Armed Robbers Target Financial Institution And Shops In Multi-Robbery Spree

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) enlisted the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol)’s assistance to track down six armed robbers who stole over US$4.4 million from an Ecobank branch in Bulawayo recently.
The suspects are believed to be local criminals residing in South Africa.
Interpol is an inter-governmental organisation that facilitates cooperation between police forces from 196 member countries, whose primary goal is to help police around the world work together to combat international crime and make the world a safer place.
According to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/interpol-roped-in-to-probe-us4m-heist/">The Herald</a>, special investigation teams have been sent to Bulawayo and surrounding areas to probe the robbery, probably the largest in Zimbabwe’s history.
The gang is allegedly connected to multiple robberies across the country, including a cash-in-transit heist involving nearly 12 kg of gold worth US$675,000 in October 2022.
They are suspected of robbing banks, money transfer agents, wholesalers, and grocery stores between May and October 2023.
In Bulawayo alone, the gang reportedly stole over US$858,000 and R508,000 in five separate raids within four months.
The suspects include Elijah Vumbunu (alias Mupositori), David Sawadye, Israel Zulu, Kudakwashe Mudzingwa (alias Umbro), Takafa Vumbunu (alias Naison Mahembe), Paul Chinake, and Brian Murape.
It is alleged that the gang typically flees to South Africa after committing their crimes.
Elijah Vumbunu reportedly runs a trucking business and resides in affluent suburbs in South Africa.

This warning follows a series of armed robberies reported on highways in recent weeks.
In one incident, a haulage truck driver picked up three men in Msasa, Harare, after posing as genuine travellers heading to Mutare.
When the driver stopped near Rusape at their request, two additional suspects emerged from the bushes, joining their accomplices to attack the driver, who sustained serious injuries.
In another case, a cross-border bus was targeted in Beitbridge last month by suspects who feigned being passengers travelling to the Beitbridge Border Post.
Along the way, they ordered the bus to stop and then assaulted passengers, escaping with significant amounts of U.S. dollars and Rands.
The police have since arrested the suspects involved in both incidents.

Last term, several institutions suffered significant financial losses after being targeted by robbers during school fee collection from parents and guardians.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.zbcnews.co.zw/top-stories/schools-warned-against-keeping-large-sums-of-money-at-premises/">ZBC News</a>, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Deputy Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Blessmore Chishaka emphasised the importance of schools taking proactive measures to avoid becoming targets for criminals. Last term, a school in Warren Park, Harare, was robbed in broad daylight where an armed gang posed as parents intending to pay school fees.
Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Director of Communications and Advocacy, Taungana Ndoro, said:

This imperative step will substantially reduce the risk of armed robberies, ensure a secure educational environment, and support the local economy.

Lytton Primary School in Harare, Tafadzwa Primary School in Chitungwiza, Widdicombe Primary School in Hatfield, Ngezi Salvation Army Secondary School in Kadoma, Glen Norah 2 High School, and George Stark High School in Mbare all suffered significant financial losses due to armed robberies last term.
In an unrelated development, Assistant Commissioner Chishaka said police are closing in on a suspected armed gang responsible for a robbery at the Fawcett Security Company premises in Chipinge. On Wednesday morning, the gang stole over US$110,000 and more than ZAR 2,000,000.

Police Advise Schools To Handle Fees Through Banks To Avoid Robberies

A Fawcetts Security facility in Chipinge was robbed of US$111,000 and R1.28 million by at least five suspects around 3 AM on Wednesday.
According to an internal police memo, the robbers first targeted two Fawcetts Security guards who were on rapid response duties and had parked their branded Isuzu KB250 in the town centre. Reads the memo:

Two of the armed robbers that were wearing balaclavas approached the two security guards on either side of the car, and ordered them to open the car doors at gun point.
The guards were then force marched to the back of the van, where they were shoved into the cash compartment with their hands tied to their back with cables.

Police said the two robbers drove the van to an unknown location where more men, at least three, jumped into the van armed with an assortment of tools including grinders, hammers, torches and iron bars.
The robbers, according to police, forced the Fawcetts guards to hand over their jackets and caps.
Two robbers occupying the front seat then dressed themselves as Fawcetts guards.
The gang drove to the Fawcetts depot at 1530 Gaza O Light Industry, where some local businesses keep their money overnight before banking. Reads the memo:

Upon arrival at the office main gate, the accused persons managed to deceive a guard who was manning the entrance to open for them.
The accused persons entered the yard and when the guard was closing the gate, two of the robbers jumped from the motor vehicle and manhandled him and force marched him towards the offices with both of his hands tied with cable ties from the back.

The Fawcetts guard was disarmed of his Rossi revolver, while a second guard conducting perimeter checks was stripped of his shotgun.
According to the police, the robbers proceeded to damage all exterior security lights, break the manager’s office window, and disconnect the power supply to the alarm system. They also cut the output cable to the siren.
Inside the control room, the robbers quickly overpowered another guard monitoring the CCTV and disarmed him of his revolver.
With all guards accounted for, the robbers used a grinder to open a Chubb door leading to the vault, which contained six cash boxes.
They took turns breaking the padlocks on each of the metal cash boxes and emptied them of cash, loading the loot into the Fawcetts vehicle. Police said:

The robbers then bundled all the Fawcetts guards into the cash compartment of the van and drove off to a bushy area at Mooilsplas Farm, 6km north of Chipinge, where they dumped the guards and the motor vehicle.

One of the guards eventually managed to free himself and called for help.
Police later recovered the Isuzu keys, which had been discarded along with the Fawcetts uniforms, 54 km from Chipinge on the road to Birchenough.
The three firearms taken from the guards were discovered abandoned in the yard of the Fawcetts establishment.
In total, the robbers stole cash amounting to US$111,411 and R1,281,320.

Fawcetts Security Robbed Of Over US$111,000 And R1.28 Million

A five-man gang of armed extortionists, who allegedly posed as military intelligence and police officers, is accused of extorting mining companies in the Matabeleland region while invoking the name of the First Family.
As reported by <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200031845/eds-son-is-our-boss-armed-robbers">NewsDay</a>, three of the suspects—Munyaradzi Charakupa, Victor Jaja, and Tawanda Mangi—appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Evelyn Madzikatire on Tuesday. They face charges of impersonating public officials, attempted extortion, and extortion.
The suspects, who are being represented by Bryan Sengweni, were remanded in custody to Thursday.
Superintendent Edmore Runganga, the investigating officer, opposed their bail, arguing that they were a flight risk since their accomplices remained at large.
The suspects were exposed after they targeted some mines in which prominent Bulawayo lawyer Dumisani Dube is an interested party.
It is alleged that the suspects resorted to extorting money from the complainants to challenge a corporate rescue certificate that was held by Dube.
Runganga argued that if they were granted bail, they would interfere with witnesses since the racket seemed to be involving police officers and government officials.
The gang was apprehended after Dube sought assistance from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son, Sean, and the Attorney-General’s Office, following persistent extortion attempts targeting mining firms associated with Dube.
In his statement, Dube said Sean disowned the gang and he told him to report it.
It is alleged that in February 2024, Jaja visited Dube’s office, falsely presenting himself as the former Officer-in-Charge of Beitbridge police now assigned to the President’s Office as part of the Police Protection Unit.
Jaja purportedly claimed he was on Sean’s security team, with Mangi as his superior.
Jaja and Mangi were allegedly accompanied by Charakupa and Pemba, who falsely identified themselves as military intelligence members assigned to protect the late War Veterans permanent secretary Clive Mphambela’s interests in Matabeleland.
Prosecutors also alleged that the suspects possessed a file containing special grant applications for Matabeleland South, including those of three of Dube’s mining clients.
They reportedly threatened to cancel these applications unless a protection fee of US$300,000 was paid to Sean, their purported boss.
Dube, in a statement signed at the CID Law and Order section, confirmed his refusal to pay the extortion fee. He said:

A month later, on April 24, 2024, I was appointed corporate rescue practitioner of Fools Investment (Pvt) Ltd by the Master of High Court under CRPB 1/24.
The accused subsequently came to my office claiming to be directors of Fools Investment and demanded US$ 200,000 each. Jaja showed me an official card from the Office of the President as his identification.

On the third count, the court heard that they attempted to extort Dube’s client of US$ 800,000.
The prosecution alleges that in the fourth count, the accused and their accomplices, who remain at large, on July 23, 2024, threatened to kill Dube unless he complied with their demands.
Following these threats, Dube was coerced into surrendering US$40,000 to Mangi.
In the fifth count, the four individuals allegedly compelled Dube to cover their accommodation expenses for three months during their purported special operation.
Under duress, Dube paid them US$4,000 and US$1,800 in the presence of Pemba and Daka after they threatened his life.
In total, they extorted US$55,300 from Dube on several occasions. A report was subsequently made to the police, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.

"Mnangagwa's Son Is Our Boss," Bogus Military Intelligence Officers Arrested After Extortion Spree Targeting Mines

Police have arrested five suspects in connection with armed robbery and attempted robbery at BancABC in Kamativi, Matabeleland North Province.
In a statement released on 30 August 2024, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi identified the suspects as Derren Tshuma (25), Proud Gumbo (30), Moyo Tamsanqa (33), Michael Donald Sibanda (26), and Majority Ndlovu (26).
Commissioner Nyathi confirmed that the suspects are linked to five armed robbery cases that occurred in Victoria Falls and Hwange between 31 December 2022 and 30 June 2024. Below is the statement:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of five suspects in connection with a series of armed robbery cases in Hwange and an attempted armed robbery at BancABC Bank, Kamativi on 27 August 2024.
The suspects are Derren Tshuma (25), Proud Gumbo (30), Moyo Tamsanqa (33), Michael Donald Sibanda (26) and Majority Ndlovu (26).
On 27th August 2024, Police conducted surveillance around Banc ABC Bank, Kamativi after receiving information about a planned robbery at the bank.
A gunshot was later heard and three suspects were seen fleeing. Police gave a chase leading to the arrest of Derren Tshuma and recovery of a spent cartridge as well as a National Identification card stolen at a garage in Hwange on 05th May 2024.
Further investigations by the Police led to the arrest of Proud Gumbo at a bus stop near Cross Dete along Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road on 28th August 2024.
The arrest led to the recovery of a Browning Pistol and the arrest of other suspects, Moyo Tamsanqa, Michael Donald Sibanda and Majority Ndlovu.
Subsequently, the suspects’ get-away cars, a Nissan AD Van, registration number, AGN 7534 and a Nissan Sunny vehicle, registration number ACD 5508, were recovered.
The suspects are linked to five cases of armed robbery which occurred in Victoria Falls and Hwange between 31st December 2022 and 30th June 2024, including a case of robbery which occurred at ZB Bank, Victoria Falls on 31st December 2022 where US$15 964.00 cash was stolen and another robbery case which occurred at a service station on 08th January 2024 where a security guard was stabbed with an okapi knife on the back before cash was stolen.
The suspects are also clearing a case of robbery which occurred at a bar at Lwendulu Village, Hwange on 02nd June 2024 where cash and cellphones were stolen.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police commends the public for providing valuable information which led to the arrest of the suspects.
Meanwhile, the Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspect, Mxolisi Sibanda.

Five Arrested For Multiple Armed Robberies In Hwange And Victoria Falls

Lawyer Tinomudaishe Chinyoka has queried why there are no reported injuries among police officers during alleged shootouts with suspected armed robbers.
Chinyoka’s comments follow a statement from Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi on Monday, which detailed the shooting of two armed robbery suspects during a confrontation with detectives in a bushy area between Mpilo Hospital and Richmond, Bulawayo, on Sunday.
While Chinyoka said that he does not wish for police officers to be harmed during such encounters, he finds the pattern troubling.
He suggested that suspects may be “executed” by police, either for refusing to share the “loot” or to eliminate the suspects after sharing the proceeds of their crime with the police. Chinyoka posted on X:

How come in these shootouts no policeman is ever injured? Not praying for that mind, but why do we still have armed robbers when they are so bad at using the arms?

On 18th August 2024, detectives from CID Homicide, Bulawayo, received information that the suspects who were wanted for armed robbery were staying at a bushy area between Mpilo Hospital and Richmond, Bulawayo in a bid to evade arrest.
The detectives acted on the information and conducted a raid at the area. The suspects began to fire at the detectives, leading to a shootout.
Subsequently, the suspects were overpowered, leading to the recovery of a Cannic pistol with a magazine of four rounds and an Astra Revolver with two rounds.
The suspects sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals where they died upon admission.
The suspects are linked to five armed robbery cases which occurred between 06th March 2024 and 29th July 2024, including a case of robbery which occurred on 07th May 2024 at Phatalika Village, Nyangazonke Sunyetsen, where household goods and a Honda CVR vehicle registration number AEA 9034 and Toyota Surf vehicle, registration number ABC 6251 were stolen.
Further, the suspects are clearing a case of robbery which occurred on 29th July 2024 at a bushy area in old Nkulumane 12, Bulawayo where a Honda Fit vehicle, registration number ADX 7925 and three cellphones were stolen.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that there is no going back in the fight against armed robbery cases in the country.
The crack teams set up by the Zimbabwe Republic Police command are alert and will ensure that the law takes its course without fear or favour.

Two Armed Robbery Suspects Killed In Shootout With Police In Bulawayo

Seven armed robbers were recently sentenced to 12 years in prison each by the Harare Magistrates’ Court for a robbery that occurred on November 29, 2022.
The convicted robbers are Paul Makamelo, Kelvin Zimomo, Sign Makamelo, Partially Makamelo, Tonderai Norest Chibvongodze, Christopher Sithole, and Innocent Kasu.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on November 29, 2022, around 7 AM, the 89-year-old complainant James Abrahams and his wife were in their bedroom when four of the accused individuals forced their way into the room, armed with knives and iron bars.
They demanded money and ransacked the room. When the complainant told them he had no money, one of the accused persons kicked him and ordered him to sit down.
The robbers then used a nylon cable to tie up the complainant and his wife, instructing them to sit on the floor.
Some of the accused persons lifted a safe from the floor and placed it on a chair in the bedroom, while others assaulted the complainant and his wife.
The complainant’s wife was untied and directed to retrieve the safe’s keys from a cupboard, which she handed over to one of the accused.
However, they were unable to open the safe, which contained US$55,000 in cash, gold, and other valuables, and took the entire safe with them.
After locking the complainant and his wife inside the bedroom, the robbers fled the scene.
A police report was filed, leading to the arrest of the accused persons. In total, US$62,415 worth of items were stolen, with US$6,000 recovered.

Seven Harare Robbers Jailed 12 Years Each

Six construction workers were violently assaulted and robbed by three armed suspects at a construction site along Hillside Road Extension in the Msasa suburb of Harare, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed.
Tragically, the on-duty security guard, Elliot Mudzingwa (32), succumbed to the injuries sustained during the attack.
The assailants are reported to have used logs and steel bars as weapons during the assault.
Following the incident, they made off with a total of US$95 in cash and four cell phones belonging to the victims, fleeing the scene in a getaway vehicle. Police said:

The suspects stole US$95.00 and four cellphones before fleeing the scene in their getaway car. The security guard succumbed to the injuries sustained during the attack.

Construction workers in Harare were attacked and robbed by three armed suspects at a construction site. The security guard, Elliot Mudzingwa, was killed during the attack. The assailants used logs and steel bars as weapons. They took $95 and four cell phones from the victims before fleeing in a car. The police are asking for any information from the public to help solve the case. If anyone knows anything about the incident, they should report it to the police.
