<p>UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has faced criticism for expressing concern over the dire living conditions that President Mohamed Bazoum and his family are allegedly enduring during their arbitrary detention in Niger.</p>
<p>Guterres also expressed alarm regarding the reported arrests of government members, calling for their unconditional release and the country’s adherence to international human rights obligations. A UN spokesperson said:</p>
<blockquote>
<p><em>The Secretary-General is very concerned over the deplorable living conditions that President Bazoum and his family are reported to be living under as they continue to be arbitrarily detained by members of the Presidential Guard in Niger.</em></p>
<p><em>The Secretary-General is also alarmed over continuing reports about the arrest of several members of the government. He urgently calls for their unconditional release and for the strict adherence to Niger’s international human rights obligations.</em></p>
</blockquote>
<p>Political activist and Pan-Africanist Ali Naka, who is purportedly associated with the Rwanda government, argued that President Bazoum’s living conditions should not be a cause for alarm, as they reflect the typical circumstances experienced by the common people of Niger. He said:</p>

<p><em>86% of the People of Niger don’t have access to electricity, meanwhile, the UN is concerned about whether one individual (Former President) has access to electricity. Pathetic. Our struggles are different!</em></p>
</blockquote>
<p>Since his ousting in a military coup, Bazoum has been held captive at the presidential palace without access to basic necessities or medical care. The Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism-Tarayya condemned these conditions, appealing for international intervention to secure Bazoum’s freedom and restore constitutional order. The junta, however, has resisted external pressure to relinquish power. </p>
<p>Living conditions in Niger are challenging due to factors such as poverty, limited access to basic services, food insecurity, and inadequate healthcare. Clean water, electricity, and sanitation facilities are scarce, especially in rural areas. The majority of the population relies on subsistence agriculture, facing recurring droughts and desertification. These factors contribute to high poverty rates and low human development indicators. Several factors such as poverty, food insecurity, limited access to basic services, inadequate healthcare, environmental challenges like drought and desertification, and political instability contribute to these challenging living conditions. </p>

UN Criticized For Concern Over President Bazoum's Alleged Living Conditions During Coup

<p>Ali Naka a political activist and Pan Africanist who is allegedly working with the Rwanda government has claimed that Zimbabwe’s Minister of Health Child Care, Dr Obadiah Moyo has been fired.</p>
<p>Naka does not divulge when and why Moyo was dismissed but the report comes amidst other reports claiming that a senior politician who is a medical doctor has tested positive for coronavirus.</p>
<p>He posted on Twitter and said:</p>

<p>The alleged development comes amidst accusations of incompetency which are being raised against the Minister.</p>
<p>Only recently, Moyo was replaced by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga as the chairperson of the Coronavirus Task Force with military personnel saying that he was useless and had lied about the country’s readiness for coronavirus.</p>
<p>The reports were however later refuted by George Charamba the spokesperson of President Emmerson Mnangagwa who said that the reports were fake.</p>

<p>Pan African political commentator, Ali Naka, has chided former ZANU PF politburo member, Jonathan Moyo for criticising State media for “over the top and personalised” celebration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s assignment to chair the SADC Organ.</p>
<p>Writing on Twitter, the social media personality said.</p>

<p>Prominent Pan African political commentator, Ali Naka, has castigated the Zimbabwean government for the brutal crackdown on protestors in central Harare on Friday.</p>
<p>Writing on microblogging site Twitter, the proud son of a villager, as he calls himself, said:</p>
<blockquote><p>Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is a Failure.</p>
<p>Definition of failure is someone who was in Cabinet for almost 40 years! Rise to Presidency and do worse!</p>
<p>If this is the prize that Zimbabweans have to pay for participation in the Liberation struggle, should citizens take up arms again for their rights and dignity to be respected?</p></blockquote>
<p>According to the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, a total of 12 people has been treated by medical doctors following assaults and torture at the hands of the police. This number is expected to increase as more reports are received.</p>


Prominent Social Media Personality, Ali Naka Defines 'Failure'

<p>The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has been warned that Zimbabwe is headed in the same direction Mozambique is coming from.</p>
<p>Mozambique had experienced decades of conflict between the government and rebels forces under RENAMO before the two parties signed a ceasefire agreement on Tuesday.</p>
<p>Writing on microblogging site Twitter, a prominent Pan African political commentator, Ali Naka, said:</p>
<blockquote><p>Unfortunately for SADC and the entire region, Zimbabwe is headed in the same direction that Mozambique is coming from.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, in Zimbabwe, both Ruling Cabal and Opposition Members are twerking for the West to get attention and validation. Useless lot.</p>

<p>Speaking at the signing ceremony of the Mozambican ceasefire, Rwanda’s President, Paul Kagame said:</p>

<p>Mozambique’s ruling party, the Mozambique Liberation Front/  Portuguese Frente de Libertação de Moçambique (FRELIMO) and the opposition party, the Mozambican National Resistance/ Resistência Nacional Moçambicana (RENAMO) have been hailed for signing a ceasefire agreement to end decades of hostilities that claimed more than a million lives.</p>
<p>Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi signed the peace accord with<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>Renamo leader, Mr Ossufo Momade in the presence of several African Heads of State.</p>

<p>The political activist, Ali Naka, known for his criticism of poor African leadership and of the MDC leadership, has claimed that the Zimbabwean government spent US $20 million on disposal thermometers.</p>
<p>Using his Twitter, Ali Naka asked Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube to explain who had authorised the procurement given the critical needs of the health sector in Zimbabwe. He also included President Emmerson Mnangagwa in his request for a response.</p>
<p>Said Ali Naka:</p>

<p>There has been a critical shortage of medical equipment and consumables in Zimbabwe like bandages. In the week of 13 March, senior doctors in Zimbabwe staged a strike appealing to the government to prioritise the desperate needs of the public hospitals in the country.</p>

Zim Gov Suspiciously Spent US $20 Million On Thermometers, Political Activist Ali Naka Alleges

<p>Prominent Pan Africanist Twitter personality, Ali Naka, who is known for his tweets on African political leadership, posted a number of tweets on Saturday 23 March 2019, alleging corruption at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and general lack of leadership by the government.</p>
<p>Naka, whose criticism is usually leveled against the opposition in Zimbabwe’s landscape, said he has come across information on the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and some apparently politically connected individuals, that is “heartbreaking”.</p>

Prominent Social Media Personality, Ali Naka, Goes After RBZ. Alleges Corruption

<p>Ali Naka has threatened to name and shame individuals who demanded and got paid $70 000 before going to Chimanimani after Cyclone Idai struck.</p>
<p>Naka has given the individuals 72 hours to return the money. Naka is a Zimbabwean businessman who has worked with various organisations as head of marketing. He is also a prominent Twitter personality and political commentator. Writiing on Twitter, Naka said:</p>
<blockquote><p>Those who demanded and got paid $70 000 before going to Chimanimani, have 72 hours to return it to the State Coffers before we name and Shame.</p></blockquote>
<p>While it is not clear who Naka is referring to, a ministerial delegation was dispatched on Sunday to assess the damage caused by Tropical Cyclone Idai in Manicaland, particularly Chimanimani which is the worst affected. The delegation comprised of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Minister and Acting Defence Minister Perrance Shiri, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Dr Sekai Nzenza and Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Joel Biggie Matiza. Also members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) were deployed to help with rescue efforts.</p>
