The hearing for the Karoi United FC versus Scottland FC case, originally scheduled for today, has been postponed to November 19.
The delay comes after it was revealed that the Martin Kweza-led Northern Region Soccer League administration failed to provide ZIFA with the required record of proceedings, as per standard procedure.
In response, ZIFA, through General Secretary Yvonne Mapika Manwa, has written to Kweza demanding that the record of proceedings be submitted by the end of today.
If the documents are not provided, the hearing will proceed without them. Wrote Mapika Manwa:

The Zimbabwe Football Association hereby follows up on our previous request for the record of proceedings for the case between Karoi FC and Scottland FC.
Please be advised that if the record of proceedings is not submitted by the end of the day tomorrow, 14 November 2024, the committee will proceed without it.
Consequently, the hearing initially scheduled for the 14th of November 2024 will be postponed to the 19th of November 2024 at 11:00 hours, pending receipt of the record of proceedings.

Early this month, Karoi United formally appealed the ruling that found them responsible for the abandonment of their match against Scottland.
The NRSL disciplinary committee had ruled on Monday that Karoi United were at fault for the abandonment of their match against Scottland at Chikangwe, which had been tied 1-1 at the time.
Scottland, owned by ZANU PF MP Pedzai Sakupwanya was awarded a 3-0 victory over Karoi United for the abandoned match.
Some football observers suspect corruption by the NRSL in handling the matter, given the departure from precedent in dealing with abandoned matches.
For example, in 2018, a match between Bindura United and Mushowani Stars was abandoned in the 80th minute at 2-2 after referee Langton Chitata was assaulted by an unknown assailant.
Bindura was fined US$1500, and Mushowani was cautioned, but the 2-2 result stood.
Similarly, in the following season, a Northern Region Soccer League match between Black Rhinos and Mushowani was abandoned in the 80th minute, also at 2-2, after referee Nelson Mawanda was assaulted.
Both Rhinos and Mushowani were fined US$2000, but the 2-2 result remained.
In contrast, for the Karoi United vs. Scottland match, the Disciplinary Committee cancelled the 1-1 scoreline and awarded Scottland the win.

ZIFA Demands Missing Documents From NRSL As Karoi United-Scottland Case Is Postponed

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has set the ticket prices for the Warriors’ crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Kenya on Friday evening at R50 for general admission, with VIP tickets priced at R1800. Tickets can be purchased online via <a href="http://www.ticketpros.co.za" rel="noopener" target="_new">www.ticketpros.co.za</a>.
The match will be played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa, with kick-off scheduled for 6 PM.
This encounter is pivotal for Zimbabwe’s hopes of qualifying for the AFCON finals, which will be held in Morocco in December 2025.
The Warriors, currently in second place in Group J with 8 points, must avoid defeat to qualify. A win in this match and their final match against Cameroon will see them top the group.

However, Zimbabwe will not qualify if they lose to both Kenya and Cameroon and if the Harambee Stars then defeat Namibia, overtaking Zimbabwe and finishing with 10 points.
Due to the unavailability of suitable stadiums in Zimbabwe, the national team was forced to play this crucial match at a neutral venue.
All local football grounds were condemned by CAF ahead of the qualifiers, leaving Zimbabwe with no choice but to host its away games in South Africa.

ZIFA Confirms Ticket Prices For Warriors, Kenya AFCON Qualifier

Zimbabwean football legend Moses Chunga has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding the Zimbabwe Football Association’s (ZIFA) new eligibility requirements for its chairperson.
One of the new rules is that candidates must have at least five Ordinary Level (O-Level) passes. Chunga, however, argued that footballers who fail to meet this academic benchmark should not be labelled as “madofo”—a derogatory Shona term meaning “dull” or “slow to understand.”
Rosemary Mugadza, the ZIFA Normalisation Committee (NC) member is quoted saying:

I was given a chance by my parents to go to school and they made sure that I have the five O Levels.
I’m a CAF instructor, where a certain level of education is required for you to participate in terms of imparting knowledge to the other fellow females.
It’s the right time for us former footballers to enrol into night schools to get the required academics that we ought to have.
Also, if you look at the current situation that we have, the current crop of players, there are scholarships that are offered for them.

ZIFA Normalisation Committee chairperson Lincoln Mutasa said:

5 O levels are for seeing someone’s ability to be able to read and write, understand numbers and communicate with our principles whether at CAF or FIFA.
That’s basically the reason for that 5 O-level qualification requirement. It’s not a major hurdle, it’s a basic stepping stone only to distinguish those who can’t read and write.

However, Chunga said some footballers and former footballers lack five O’Level passes not because they are “dull” or unintelligent, but because, during their teenage years, they faced the difficult choice between dedicating themselves to football or pursuing formal education.
He pointed out that many young players prioritised their athletic careers, often sacrificing their schooling in pursuit of professional football. A footballer trains their muscle between ages 6 and 18. Qualities like speed of thought, accuracy, endurance, resistance, strength and skill have to be mastered between 6 and 18. Fact.
By the time one is 18, they would have reached the end of growth. (Fact). So if one is to excel in football he has to spend most of his teenage years on the field of training.
Unfortunately, this is also the time when this same guy is needed in the classroom. In the end, he/she has to make a difficult decision, that of choosing football ahead of formal education.
Those who mix football with formal education and excel in both are the rare ones. In conclusion, let’s not be too quick to judge these footballers.
They spent hours and hours practising so that you may be entertained. Please let’s not humiliate them.

Zimbabwean football icon Moses “Bambo” Chunga recently made a return to Belgium, where he was invited by his former club, Eendracht Aalst Lede, reported <a href="https://nehandaradio.com/2024/11/12/moses-chunga-back-in-belgium-honored-by-ex-club-eendracht-aalst-lede/">Nehanda Radio</a>.
Chunga, who played for the club from 1988 to 1992, is regarded as one of the team’s all-time greats, with his exceptional contributions during his playing days cementing his legendary status.
The club’s management extended the invitation to Chunga, hoping to tap into his legacy and assist in rekindling Eendracht Aalst Lede’s former glory.
During his visit, Chunga attended the club’s weekend match against Erpe-Mere United, where Eendracht Aalst Lede secured a 2-0 victory.

He has been in impressive form, earning the Man of the Match award in three consecutive Carling Black Label Cup games, along with a total of R300,000 in prize money.

Premier League referee David Coote has been suspended following the release of video footage in which he is heard calling Jürgen Klopp a “German cunt” and referring to Liverpool as “shit.”
The remarks were made after a 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Burnley during Project Restart in 2020, where Coote described Klopp as “arrogant” and claimed he accused him of lying.
Just before his suspension, Coote officiated Liverpool’s recent 2-0 victory against Aston Villa.
The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), which is responsible for overseeing match officials in professional football in England, said:

David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete.

In the footage, Coote expresses disdain for Klopp, labelling him “arrogant” and recalling a previous incident during a match against Burnley, where he felt Klopp accused him of lying.
Coote uses explicit language, referring to Klopp as a “German cunt” and criticising Liverpool’s performance in a game earlier that day.
The conversation was recorded by another man, who also made disparaging comments about Klopp and Liverpool fans.
In the video, Coote and the man imply they are breaching COVID regulations by sitting close together. In a separate clip, Coote asks not to share the original recording.
The discussion includes a still image of Coote on the touchline with Klopp during Liverpool’s 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa.
In Liverpool’s next match, Coote served as the video assistant referee when Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s challenge on Virgil van Dijk, which resulted in an anterior cruciate ligament injury, went unpunished.
Coote also faced criticism from Klopp as the VAR for the 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Arsenal last December, where an apparent handball by Martin Ødegaard did not lead to a penalty.
Howard Webb, the chief refereeing officer for PGMOL, later said that the incident should have resulted in a spot-kick.
It is understood Liverpool feel it would be inappropriate to comment with an investigation underway
Under Coote’s officiating, Liverpool has won five, drawn one, and lost two of the eight matches he refereed during Klopp’s tenure as manager.

FC Wangu Mazodze’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) aspirations are hanging by a thread after a 0-0 draw against Tenax CS over the weekend.
Affectionately known as The Kingdom Boys, FC Wangu Mazodze were once leading the ZIFA Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) with 14 points, but their position has since become precarious.
They are now just two points ahead of Triangle United and Tenax CS, who are in second and third place, respectively.
With 65 points from 29 games, FC Wangu Mazodze are closely followed by Triangle United, who also have 63 points from the same number of games.
Tenax CS, with one more game played, are tied on 63 points with Triangle United.
With only three games left in the season, Mazodze’s path to promotion to the Premier Soccer League is narrow, and they can afford little room for error.
In 2023, FC Wangu Mazodze missed out on promotion after drawing with Renco Mine FC on the final day.
Tenax FC also missed out on PSL promotion that year due to a board decision revealing they had fielded an unregistered player in their final match, which handed the promotion spot to Bikita Minerals FC instead.
Mazodze’s remaining fixtures include an away match against Mutare City Rovers and two crucial home games against St. Paul’s Musami FC and Surrey FC.

France-based Warriors striker Tinotenda Kadewere has been ruled out of Zimbabwe’s upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Kenya and Cameroon due to injury.
Kadewere, who plays for Nantes in Ligue 1, aggravated his injury during a match against Marseille over the weekend, despite scoring Nantes’ lone goal in a 2-1 defeat.
As a result, the striker will miss Zimbabwe’s home game against Kenya on Friday at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, followed by the away fixture in Cameroon four days later, which will be the final match of the campaign.

The Zimbabwe Football Association’s (ZIFA) Appeals Committee will meet on Thursday this week to review the case between Karoi United and Scottland FC.
Karoi United is appealing a decision by the ZIFA Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) to award Scottland FC a 3-0 win from their abandoned match on September 15.
The match was called off in the 88th minute with the score tied at 1-1 after referee Mathew Dingo was reportedly hit by a missile and could not continue.
The NRSL charged Karoi United with causing the abandonment and awarded Scottland FC three points, which moved them to the top of the league.
Scottland FC secured the top spot in the NRSL with 87 points after a 3-1 win over Black Mambas on Friday, finishing two points ahead of second-placed MWOS.
ZIFA chief executive officer Yvonne Manwa formally acknowledged Karoi United’s appeal and notified them of the scheduled hearing. She wrote:

ZIFA To Deliberate On Karoi United’s Appeal

Wicknell Chivayo has fulfilled his pledge to the 2024 ZIFA Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) champions, Scottland, by delivering 20 Toyota Aquas to the club, as promised.
Chivayo, a controversial figure known for winning multi-million-dollar government tenders and living a lavish lifestyle, had vowed to provide vehicles and US$1 million to Scottland if they beat MWOS to the title.
Scottland were awarded the trophy on Friday, and the club’s owner, Pedzai Sakupwanya, quickly presented the trophy to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
However, the ruling that allowed Scottland to overtake MWOS is still in dispute, as Karoi United has appealed the decision.
The NRSL Disciplinary Committee granted Scottland a 3-0 win over Karoi United, despite the match being abandoned in the 88th minute with the score tied at 1-1. If ZIFA overturns this ruling, MWOS would be crowned champions instead.
In a social media post on Monday, Chivayo, who is closely connected to Zimbabwe’s political elite like Sakupwanya, said that his gifts were intended to boost morale within the Scottland camp. He wrote:

Mutimbanyoka opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, and Ngwenya sealed the victory for FC Platinum with a goal in the 85th minute.
Meanwhile, the 2023 PSL champions, Ngezi Platinum Stars, triumphed 4-0 over Herentals, with Obriel Chirinda scoring a brace, and Tinotenda Meke and Tanaka Munemo adding the other goals.
Chicken Inn secured a 3-0 victory over Bikita Minerals, who are still fighting to avoid relegation.
On Sunday, relegation-threatened Hwange fought back with a dramatic 4-3 win over Highlanders at the Colliery, keeping their survival hopes alive.
In another twist, Chegutu Pirates, despite a 2-0 victory over CAPS United, were relegated after just one season in the Premiership.
ZPC Kariba (38 points), Bulawayo Chiefs (38 points), Bikita Minerals (35 points), and Hwange (35 points) are still in the relegation battle heading into the final round of fixtures.
However, both ZPC Kariba and Bulawayo Chiefs are almost certain to retain their Premiership status, even if they lose their final matches, as their goal differences are significantly better than those of Bikita Minerals and Hwange.
ZPC Kariba has a goal difference of -2, while Bulawayo Chiefs have -6. In contrast, Bikita Minerals have a goal difference of -11 and Hwange -16, making it highly unlikely that they will overtake ZPC Kariba and Bulawayo Chiefs in the standings, even if they win their respective matches.
Meanwhile, ZPC Hwange, Scottland, and Kwekwe United have already secured promotion to the top flight.
The battle for the final PSL spot is still ongoing, with FC Wangu Mazodze, Triangle United and Tenax CS competing for the sole promotion ticket from the ZIFA Eastern Region Soccer League.

PSL 2024 MatchDay 33 Results: Simba Bhora Lose At Home To FC Platinum

The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has expressed satisfaction with the amended ZIFA constitution, which was adopted at a FIFA-supervised meeting of ZIFA’s Congress on October 18.
The Congress voted 48-8 in favour of the amendments, marking a significant step forward in addressing long-standing issues within Zimbabwean football.
FIFA and CAF delegates attending the meeting commended the Congress for its renewed commitment to reforming the country’s football governance, particularly in relation to a constitution that had not been updated in over a decade.
After the ZIFA Congress ratified the amendments, the amended constitution was sent to the SRC for registration, in line with Section 29 of the Sport and Recreation Act.
The SRC’s legal team reviewed the constitution and gave their approval, allowing ZIFA to proceed with registering the document with FIFA.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.sundaymail.co.zw/src-call-for-integrity-in-zifa-elections">The Sunday Mail</a>, SRC board chairperson Gerald Mlotshwa commended the Normalisation Committee led by Lincoln Mutasa for establishing an ethics and integrity committee that will assess the eligibility of candidates. Said Mlotshwa:

The new ZIFA Constitution has been registered by the SRC, in terms of its governing Act. New ZIFA elections will be conducted under its auspices and the watchful eyes of FIFA and CAF.
I am aware that ZIFA is in the process of putting together an ethics and integrity committee to vet prospective candidates.
The SRC does not vet candidates nor will it endorse any candidate. That is a matter for the football community within ZIFA to decide without third-party interference or influence.
It is our fervent hope, as the SRC, that the composition of the ethics and integrity committee will encourage those very able former footballers, administrators and corporate leaders in our country to step up for what will, given the importance of football in Zimbabwe, be a national duty.

He urged ZIFA’s electoral college to choose leaders who are honest, and respectable and can ensure credibility and accountability for the association and the country’s biggest sports code. Said Mlotshwa:

We want to see selfless, hardworking and honest people at the helm of our sport.
Not shameless, self-centred, incompetent and divisive egotists, as has been the unfortunate case in the recent past.

During discussions on amending the ZIFA constitution, two key clauses drew huge interest. One stipulates that candidates for the ZIFA presidency and deputy positions must hold at least five Ordinary Level passes, while the other requires candidates to have been ordinarily resident in Zimbabwe for the past two years.
Under the amended constitution, the ZIFA executive, commonly known as the board, will now have 11 members, with one of the two vice presidents having to be a woman. Article 38.1 of the new constitution reads:

The Executive Committee shall consist of 11 members, at least three (3) of whom shall be women, as follows: a) one President. b) two vice presidents (1st vice president and 2nd vice president), at least one of whom shall be a woman. c) six ordinary members. d) one ex officio member representing the Premier Soccer League elected by the Premier Soccer League and ratified by the ZIFA Congress. e) one ex officio female member representing the Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League elected by the Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League and ratified by the ZIFA Congress.

Articles 38.4 to 38.8 outline additional criteria for individuals aspiring to be board members. These include a requirement that all members of the Executive Committee must not have been previously convicted or sentenced for any criminal offence.
Additionally, to be eligible for election as the president of the Executive Committee, a candidate must be at least 40 years old.

New ZIFA Constitution Sets Age, Education, And Residency Criteria For Executive Committee Members

Scottland FC has been promoted to the Premier Soccer League after securing a 3-1 victory over Black Mambas at Rufaro Stadium on the final day of the 2024 Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) season on Friday.
Heading into the crucial fixture against Black Mambas, Scottland were two points ahead of second-placed MWOS, who were locked in a battle with Agama at Ngoni Stadium.
With an inferior goal difference to MWOS, Scottland knew they needed a win to guarantee promotion.
The breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Scottland was awarded a penalty after Leroy Mavunga was fouled in the box. Ronald Pfumbidzai stepped up to convert the spot kick.
Mavunga then extended Scottland’s lead with a well-taken goal just before half-time. Black Mambas pulled one back through Munyaradzi Dambudza, whose goal proved to be little more than a consolation.
Mavunga sealed the win in the second half, scoring his second goal of the match and Scottland’s third to ensure the full three points and promotion to the PSL.
Scottland owner Pedzai Sakupwanya dismissed any complaints from MWOS, insisting that his club had earned the title and deserved the promotion. He said:

I would like to thank God because it was not an easy road but God did it for us, I would want to thank Honourable Innocent Benza for being with us throughout the journey.
We fought a good fight, like what I predicted when we were number seven that we would be number one and today (yesterday) we just did it.

So one needs to be talked about in life, our opponents tried all they could to pull us down but they could not achieve it.
Some were 12 points ahead of us but they conceded too many draws and we were winning, so they should not complain.
They must congratulate us, because as Scottland, we want to take our football forward, we need to empower our youths.

MWOS won 1-0 but that was too little too late with Scottland holding on to their two-point advantage.

Scottland FC Secures Promotion To Premier Soccer League

Businessman and educationist Innocent Benza has ruled himself out of the race for the ZIFA presidency in the upcoming elections, which are set to take place in early 2025.
The long-awaited elections will follow the expiration of the ZIFA Normalisation Committee’s term in January 2025.
This week, ZIFA’s new constitution was officially registered by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC), clearing the way for the elections to proceed.
The 54-year-old Benza, who is also the Member of Parliament for Mutasa Central (ZANU PF) and a member of the parliamentary portfolio committee on sport, revealed that he has been receiving persistent calls from the football community urging him to consider a bid for the ZIFA presidency.
Despite the pressure, Benza has decided not to enter the race. He said:

Of late I have been receiving a lot of calls from stakeholders to consider running for the position of ZIFA president.
It is not something that I have been thinking about. In fact, I am ready to support whoever wants to go for it as long as they are competent and fit the required criteria.
I love football enough and becoming its leader would have been quite exciting, especially with so much support from stakeholders who are making a lot of calls for me to become the ZIFA leader.
I am really humbled to receive all those calls from key football people. It shows that, they have trust in me.
I am not entirely ruling it out but for now, I am choosing not to contest and I will support the right candidate for the post.
I have been in football administration for close to 30 years and we have also been running other sports like cricket and we have regularly provided national team players.
I hope to support the right candidate for the position based on different factors.

In addition to Herentals, Benza also owns Herentals U20, which competes in the Northern Region Soccer League, and Herentals Queens, the serial champions of the Women’s Soccer League.
His football investments extend further, with four Herentals Division 2 teams based in Harare, Rusape, Kadoma, and Bulawayo.
Benza also runs a thriving academy that caters to players aged 4 to 20, nurturing young talent across multiple age groups.
Meanwhile, the race for the ZIFA presidency is heating up, with several high-profile candidates expressing interest in running.
Among them are Farai Jere, the current PSL chairman and owner of CAPS United FC; Walter Magaya, founder of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries, and owner of Yadah FC; Richard Mazodze, owner of FC Wangu Mazodze in the ZIFA Eastern Region Soccer League Division 1; Marshal Gore, a UK-based football administrator; and Philemon Machana, a former ZIFA executive.

Benza Announces He Won’t Contest ZIFA Presidency In 2025

Simba Bhora head coach Tonderayi Ndiraya has said the club has not yet made a decision on whether to participate in the upcoming CAF Champions League, despite securing a spot by winning the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League (PSL) title.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/simba-bhora-in-caf-champions-league-limbo/">State media</a>, Ndiraya said that if the club chooses to enter the prestigious continental competition, it will need to sign high-quality players capable of competing at the highest level. Said Ndiraya:

We need to sit down as management and see if we want to play in Africa or not, but that is more of an administrative decision.
From a technical team point of view, we want to compete at this level, and that is a different challenge altogether.

We will be facing champions from other countries, and that will not be easy. I have some experience of African football with Ngezi Platinum, Dynamos, and the national team.

In just their second season in the topflight, Simba Bhora clinched the PSL title with two games to spare, earning the right to represent Zimbabwe in the prestigious CAF Champions League.
The title win marked a historic achievement as Simba Bhora became only the fourth team, after St Paul’s Musami, Ngezi Platinum Stars, and FC Platinum, to win the championship outside of Harare and Bulawayo.
Simba Bhora also made history as the first team from Mashonaland Central Province to claim the PSL title.
St Paul’s Musami was from Mashonaland East, Ngezi Platinum is based in Mashonaland West, and FC Platinum is based in Midlands Province.
Simba Bhora will next face FC Platinum at Wadzanai Stadium before travelling to Nyamhunga Stadium to take on ZPC Kariba on the final matchday of the season.
Simba Bhora remains undefeated at home, and a win or draw against FC Platinum on Saturday will ensure an unbeaten home record for the league campaign.

Simba Bhora Weighs CAF Champions League Participation

Israeli football fans in Amsterdam, Netherlands, faced a series of violent attacks, requiring riot police intervention multiple times to protect them.
According to <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2y33ee1klo">BBC News</a>, the attacks took place in various parts of the city, including before and after a Europa League match between Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv and Dutch football giants Ajax.
Prime Minister Dick Schoof condemned the “antisemitic attacks,” and Israel’s military described the incidents as “severe and violent” against Israelis.
Amsterdam’s mayor and authorities said that despite a massive police presence, Israeli fans had been injured in several parts of the Dutch capital.
Amsterdam police arrested 62 people in connection with the violent incidents. Five people were hospitalised, and authorities are investigating the attacks. They also received reports of a potential hostage situation, though this was not confirmed.
Prime Minister Schoof expressed horror at the violence, reassuring that the perpetrators would be tracked down and prosecuted.
Dutch officials, including the national coordinator for combating antisemitism, described the violence as disgusting, stating that a line had been crossed.
Chanan Hertzberger, head of the Central Jewish Committee in the Netherlands, accused taxi drivers of exacerbating the violence by helping to corner Israeli fans. Videos surfaced showing assaults and attempts to run over Israelis.
Israeli airline El Al organized two “rescue flights” to bring passengers back to Israel following the violence. That was after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cancelled plans to send two military planes.
Tensions had been high before the match, with clashes between Maccabi fans and pro-Palestinian protesters, including fireworks and the tearing down of a Palestinian flag.
The unrest escalated after the game, with videos circulating showing beatings and a person being run over, some of which included pro-Palestinian slogans.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog called the violence a “pogrom” against Maccabi fans and Israeli citizens. 
Dutch anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders also referred to the events as a pogrom and criticized authorities for their failure to protect Israeli citizens.
Mayor Femke Halsema tried to prevent further violence by moving pro-Palestinian protesters away from the Johan Cruyff Arena.
However, reports indicated that a large group later attempted to head toward the stadium, only to be stopped by riot police.
The attacks sparked international outrage, with US special envoy on antisemitism Deborah Lipstadt describing them as “horrifying” and “reminiscent of a classic pogrom.”
She said the violence occurred just days before the anniversary of the 1938 Nazi pogrom against Jews in Germany, calling the images “horrific and shameful.”

Speaking at a pre-budget seminar in Bulawayo on Thursday, the committee’s chairperson, Chamu Chiwanza (ZANU PF), announced that they have already chosen a name for the proposed stadium: Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Stadium. The National Sports Stadium was condemned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in 2021 for not meeting the required standards to host international matches.
It was also deemed unsuitable by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) First Instance Body (FIB) for local Premier Soccer League (PSL) games.
Deputy Minister of Sports, Emily Jesaya, said that Treasury has been slow in releasing funds for the stadium’s renovation.
Zimbabwe currently lacks a single CAF-certified stadium. This has forced both the national football team, the Warriors, and clubs participating in CAF competitions to rent venues in neighboring countries like South Africa, Botswana, and Zambia for their home matches.

Michael Nees has announced the Warriors squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Kenya and Cameroon.
Zimbabwe will host the Harambe Stars (Kenya) at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa, on November 15, followed by a match against the Indomitable Lions (Cameroon) just four days later.
The Warriors need only one point from these two matches to secure a spot at the continental showpiece in Morocco.

The club, owned by Mabvuku-Tafara legislator Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya, has reportedly secured a 30-year lease for Number One Grounds, located adjacent to Mabvuku High School, from the City of Harare.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/15-000-seater-stadium-set-for-mabvuku/">The Herald</a>, Scottland FC chairman Tonderai Sakupwanya, who is Scott’s brother, said that the proposed stadium will accommodate at least 15,000 spectators.
The facility will also have various ancillary amenities, including a swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, as well as a rugby field and a cricket field. Said Sakupwanya:

I can confirm that we now have a 30-year lease from the City of Harare to have Mabvuku Number One Ground.
We are planning to build a 15,000-seater stadium there next year. The stadium is not going to be confined to Scottland only but it will be open to everyone.
Schools will also be allowed to use the facility and we will put up an open pool where schools will compete.
It will be an all-encompassing facility with a high-performance centre available as well because we want to develop sport in all ways that we can as Scottland FC. So, we are working round the clock to see to it that we can start the work that needs to be done.
At the moment, we are working on preliminary designs for the football stadium and we will also retain basketball courts, a rugby field, tennis and cricket facilities in the stadium.

The Shamva-based club made significant investments in building Wadzanayi Stadium, where they have maintained an unbeaten record this season.
Captain Walter Musona scored the decisive goal in the 10th minute, marking his 10th goal of the season and securing three points for the Tonderai Ndiraya-coached team.
With this victory, Simba Bhora reached an unassailable total of 66 points, effectively wrapping up the season with two games still to play.
Second-placed FC Platinum remain on 57 points after their victory over Bulawayo Chiefs at Mandava, meaning they can no longer catch up to Simba Bhora.
In his post-match comments, Ndiraya, who previously fell short of the title with Ngezi Platinum Stars and Dynamos, expressed gratitude to the club’s management, including president Simba Ndoro, the board, the executive committee, the technical team, the secretariat, and the players for their contributions to this historic achievement. Said Ndiraya:

ZIFA Chief Executive Officer Yvonne Manwa confirmed to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/karoi-utd-appeal-against-nrsl-judgment/">H-Metro</a> that Karoi United had submitted the required US$5,000 appeal fee to the football association. ZIFA is now expected to schedule a hearing once all the necessary documentation has been processed.
The appeal will temporarily halt the celebratory atmosphere in the Scottland camp as they approach the final day of the NRSL championship race on Friday.
The NRSL disciplinary committee had ruled on Monday that Karoi United were at fault for the abandonment of their match against Scottland at Chikangwe, which had been tied 1-1 at the time.
Scottland, owned by ZANU PF MP Pedzai Sakupwanya, climbed to the top of the NRSL after being awarded a 3-0 victory over Karoi United for an abandoned match.
With this decision, Scottland now holds 84 points from 37 games, leading MWOS by two points, who have 82 points from the same number of matches.

Bindura was fined US$1500, and Mushowani was cautioned, but the 2-2 result stood.
Similarly, in the following season, a Northern Region Soccer League match between Black Rhinos and Mushowani was abandoned in the 80th minute, also at 2-2, after referee Nelson Mawanda was assaulted.
Both Rhinos and Mushowani were fined US$2000, but the 2-2 result remained.
In contrast, for the Karoi United vs. Scottland match, the Disciplinary Committee cancelled the 1-1 scoreline and awarded Scottland the win, benefiting them with just one match left in the season and providing a clear advantage over MWOS.
Scottland will host Black Mambas at Rufaro Stadium, while MWOS will face Agama at Ngoni Stadium on Friday in the final round of fixtures.
MWOS can still secure the sole ticket to the Premier Soccer League if they win and Scottland draw, thanks to their superior goal difference of plus-3.

United States-based FC Wangu Mazodze owner, Richard Mazodze, reportedly ordered club officials to leave five players at Rudhaka Stadium in Marondera and bar them from boarding the team bus following their 2-0 defeat to FC Hunters on Sunday.
According to <a href="https://www.soccer24.co.zw/2024/11/04/5-wangu-mazodze-players-left-stranded-in-marondera-after-being-dismissed-and-denied-entry-into-team-bus/">Soccer24</a>, the players, including former CAPS United midfielder Diago Makurumidze, were suspended and left stranded in Marondera for nearly two hours at Mazodze’s orders.
Mazodze, who was in the United States, held a post-match Zoom meeting with club officials where he issued the suspension directive.
One of the affected players, speaking to Soccer24 on condition of anonymity, confirmed that they were left behind based on Mazodze’s order. He said:

League leaders Simba Bhora had earlier extended their advantage at the top of the table to nine points, courtesy of a 2-1 victory over CAPS United at Wadzanai Stadium on Saturday.
Following the MatchDay 31 fixtures, Simba Bhora have amassed an impressive 63 points, while FC Platinum, who occupy second place, have 54 points.
This means Simba Bhora now require at most one point from their remaining three matches to be crowned the 2024 PSL champions.
The match at Rufaro Stadium was decided by a two-minute blitz in the first half, with Emmanuel Ziocha and Valentine Kadonzvo finding the back of the net for Dynamos, leaving the Norman Mapeza-coached FC Platinum side stunned.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Dynamos coach Lloyd Chigowe revealed that they knew FC Platinum would be under immense pressure to score goals and secure the win to keep pace with Simba Bhora at the top of the table. He said:

We knew that FC Platinum would always come guns blazing. So, we allowed them to come forward and then we hit them on the counter and for sure we hit them.
We feel we could have done that on three or four occasions. But in the end, we played tactically good football, managed to absorb the pressure and lasted the distance, which was key for us.
This team has great potential if well-managed and, I think if all their welfare issues are attended to, and they don’t have any issues, I think they can go great guns against any side in this country.

Mapeza conceded that his FC Platinum side failed to do enough to secure the win, as they struggled to create clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities throughout the match. He said:

We started well, but we gave away two soft goals. The first goal was a result of a mix-up from the set-piece and from that set-piece we ended up conceding.
The second goal was more of the same, pushing up and the offside trap wasn’t on. I think those were the only two moments that made us lose the game.
But overall, I thought in the second half we tried but we didn’t create enough opportunities.
But it’s a game of football. We have been fighting so hard since the start of the season and look where we are now.
I never thought we would be where we are today because we had so many issues along the way.
But I am proud of these boys. Some of these guys we played today, we brought them from Division One and already they are showing a lot of maturity.
So, I don’t have to blame the players for the loss. The guys worked so well; we just need to focus on the remaining three games.

Dynamos Derail FC Platinum's Title Charge

Simba Bhora’s boosted their chances of clinching the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) championship by beating CAPS United 2-1 in an exhilarating match at Wadzanai Stadium on Saturday.
Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 55th minute and having their 1-0 lead cancelled four minutes later, the Tonderai Ndiraya-coached side showed resilience.
The man of the match, Vasilli Kawe, scored the equalising goal and provided a crucial assist, helping Simba Bhora extend their lead to 63 points, nine points clear of second-placed FC Platinum, who lost to Dynamos on Sunday.
Kawe scored in the 40th minute after being set up by captain Walter Musona, wrong-footing keeper Ashley Reyners.
Despite a hamstring injury, Reyners remained in the game and conceded the goal before being substituted.
CAPS United, motivated by a promise of US$1,000 each for a win, equalised in the 59th minute through Jayden Bakare’s header from an Eric Manokore freekick.
Earlier, CAPS United’s Harrison Masina received a second yellow card for a late tackle.
Simba Bhora found the winning goal in the 74th minute through Tymon Machope’s header from a Kawe cross.
Simba Bhora have an impressive home record since March, with 13 wins and three draws in 16 matches.
Speaking after the game, Ndiraya said that their focus is on the next match and maintaining their lead ahead of the crucial encounter with FC Platinum in the penultimate game of the season. Said Ndiraya:

The idea is for us to focus on the next game. But I don’t want to lie that we are not focusing on crossing the line. The idea is to maintain the six-point gap until we get to the FC Platinum game.
We knew we were up for a very tough task today, especially coming from defeats in the Cup and against Herentals.

Simba Bhora faced CAPS United while still reeling from a disappointing loss to Herentals in the league.
In their following match, they were eliminated from the Chibuku Super Cup by Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Looking ahead, Simba Bhora face relegated Arenel Movers in Bulawayo midweek. They will return home to host FC Platinum at Wadzanai Stadium, before wrapping up the season with a challenging game against ZPC Kariba.

Simba Bhora Closes In On PSL Title With 2-1 Win Over CAPS United

Harare-based preacher Walter Magaya has begun constructing a 10,000-seater stadium in Kwekwe, Midlands Province, designed to meet the Confederation of African Football’s standards.
The facility, named The Heart Main Stadium, will be officially named Chahwanda Stadium after Magaya’s business associate, Shepherd Chahwanda, who is the project’s main funder. Said Magaya:

It will have all CAF requirements embedded in it. It is being constructed at the epicenter of the country in Kwekwe where it is envisaged to benefit all Premier Soccer League clubs and national teams.

We expect to complete this venue in January, coinciding with the ZIFA elections.

Last year, Magaya unveiled another stadium, The Heart, a 5,000-seat facility located within the Yadah Complex in Harare’s Waterfalls. This stadium was officially commissioned by the country’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Chahwanda owns Hardrock FC in the ZIFA Midlands Division 2B and the Kwekwe based side will be playing in the ZIFA Central Region Soccer League next season.
Kwekwe once boasted a strong presence in the top-flight league, with teams like Ziscosteel, Lancashire Steel, and Kwekwe Cables competing at the highest level.
Now, former Motor Action and Chicken Inn coach Prince Matore is on the brink of leading Kwekwe United into the 2025 Premiership season.

Magaya Plans To Build Stadium In Kwekwe

Former Warriors coach Kalisto Pasuwa has been appointed as the interim coach of Malawi’s senior men’s national football team, Flames, just three days after the departure of Patrick Mabedi.
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) confirmed Pasuwa’s appointment in a statement released on Friday.
This decision comes after a virtual meeting held earlier that day, during which FAM ratified its Emergency Committee’s recommendation to part ways with Mabedi following a series of disappointing results.
Pasuwa, who is also the coach of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, will now lead the Flames as they look to turn their fortunes around. Reads the statement:

FAM dismissed Mabedi on Tuesday following a disappointing qualifying campaign, where the team lost all four matches.
Mabedi’s record included a 3-2 defeat at home to Burundi, a 3-1 loss away to Burkina Faso, and two back-to-back defeats to Senegal—first losing 4-0 in the first leg and then suffering a last-minute 1-0 defeat at Bingu National Stadium.
Pasuwa has achieved cult-hero status at FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, having led the team to five consecutive domestic league championships since joining the club in 2018.
His impressive track record also includes nine consecutive league titles, dating back to his time with Dynamos, where he won four titles between 2011 and 2014.
He will begin his tenure with an away match against Burundi in a dead-rubber fixture for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers on November 15, 2024.
