Background
Mqhele Enock-Hershal Dlodlo was born on 2 May, 1954 in Sandolo Village, Zimbabwe. Son of Enock and Nanzeni (Khumalo) Dlodlo.[1] He married Flora Sukoluhle Dube on 18 August, 1979 and the couple has two children, Thandeko Nokholo and Dumisa Sibane.
Education
He still recalls the names of his two primary school rivals: Soneni Ngwenya and Winette Mpofu. “Some years I was ahead, some years one or the other of them took the top spot. It was a fierce competition.” This fierce competition pushed him to excel so that he mantains that supremacy over his competitors. After completing elementary school he went on first to Matopo Secondary School and later to complete his A levels at Thekwane High School near Plumtree, where he excelled at his studies. Dlodlo had set his sights on pursuing tertiary studies somewhere away from home, as long as it was not the University of Rhodesia (now University of Zimbabwe). As it turned out, he won a tuition scholarship to Messiah College,a Christian liberal arts college in Grantham, Pennsylvania, in the United States, to study pre-engineering physics. While there, he won a fully funded scholarship through UNESCO to study at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.[2]
He attained the following qualifications:
- PhD (Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands);
- MSEE (Kansas State University, USA);
- BSEE, BS – Mathematics and Engineering Management (Geneva College, USA).
