Jordan Zemura Wants Mapeza Out Of Warriors Job | Report

Udinese Calcio fullback Jordan Zemura has reportedly vowed to never accept national team call-ups if Norman Mapeza remains the Warriors coach.

Mapeza, who was appointed Warriors caretaker coach in March, is accused of subjecting players to “military-style” physical sessions at the Four Nations Tournament in Malawi.

A source within the Zemura camp, who preferred anonymity, was cited as saying the “British Brigade” left Malawi feeling unwanted. Said the source, as quoted by H-Metro:

Jordan is no longer coming for any future Zimbabwe national team matches as long as Mapeza is the coach. He will be unavailable.

There is a fierce war from the coach to frustrate the Europe-born-and-bred players and Zemura has decided to stand up against that.

This is something he has kept close to his chest because he is a patient and quiet guy but he can’t keep on putting a lid on something that has serious repercussions on national sport.

The Malawi treatment was enough for him to make a decision.

These boys network very much. They exchange notes and experiences. The country risks losing out on potential future national team players if this is not looked into.

Jordan is not about football politics and he regards Mapeza highly although he has serious reservations about his management style.

The British Brigade refers to Zimbabwean footballers who were born in the United Kingdom. These players have a strong attachment to Zimbabwe and aspire to represent the Warriors.

They include Tivonge Rushesha, Jordan Zemura, Kundai Benyu, Cliff Moyo, Dougie Nyaupembe, Andy Rinomhota, Brendan Galloway, David Moyo, Shepherd Murombedzi, Munashe Sundire, Reiss Nelson, Tristan Ryan Nydam, Macauley Bonne, Tendayi Darikwa, Adam Chicksen, and Admiral Muskwe.

To be fair I don't understand why ZIFA keeps bringing back Mapeza who proved to us he has no clue about professional coaching. We all know what he did to our players in Younde, the formation, the tactics, preference of old and retiring players over young ones. He has no respect for professional players like Zemura and all others, it's a shame that Zim's talent is being wasted away due to these amarture coaches and Zifa incompetence. Mapeza single handedly failed us at last Afcon appearance. I won't blame these guys if they stop coming for national duty. Can't we try better coaches like Pitso, or Bruce, etc!

When a playr feels he is more valuable and important, such insults are likely to be experienced. Salah walked out of a game at Africa cup of nations because he felt that African soccer is amateurish. Zemura wants to walk out because he feels the same of our game. He wants the coach to listen to him instead. Lack of discipline. As a player you don't fire the Coach, but the coach can fire a player. We 5hought these youngsters would modernize our way of play in the field not in the mouth. Win games for the country. I oftenly watch some European teams in their practice sessions, there is a part of physic training only that they have apparatus unlike Zim.

Mmmm. Panonetsa apa. Pataurwa opinion ye one player. How about the others, local and foreign based? Norman can not be judged on the personal opinion of one player. Jordan could be right, but he could be motivated by his own prejudices. Maybe he is the bigheaded English who thinks that the coach has to listen to him. We have to be very careful. We have never had such complaints even from former Warriors or former FC Platinum players. I like Jordan, but maybe he lacks discipline. He could turn out to be a bad influence to other players. I support his decision to pull out before he disrupts the whole team.

The players called up for national duty are not under 17 kids, these are professional players whose fitness is their respective clubs 's daily responsibility. A national team coach does not have the time to develop a player's muscles so this military style training can only cause unnecessary strain on the players readiness. A national coach must work on building a unit that is cohesive , one with team mates which compliment each other as a unit
