Tshabangu - There's an old adage that goes, "Those whom the gods hate, they first make mad." That's the story of Tshabangu. Initially there was hype that Tshabangu had bigwigs from within CCC backing him.  That fallacy has come to nought. There are two scenarios that come to mind.  First, and less plausible one is that indeed there were a few MDC Alliance officials who felt sidelined in the formation of CCC who were miffed by the Unipolar structure (centralising everything around Champion-in-Chief Chamisa), put up to minimise ZANU/CIO infiltration. While these may or may not have goaded Tshabangu into action, the actions of this lunatic fringe activist must have sent his erstwhile blessers running for cover once he started his one-trick-pony recalls. Welsh Ncube,  Tendai Biti and Charlton Hwende names were banded around,  with TB disowning Tshabangu from the outset.  Welsh and Charlton remained mum, although they,  at a much later stage, did voice their displeasure at the slow pace of Congress. The second , even more plausible scenario,  is that ZANU/CIO/FAZ, upset with Chamisa's victory in August,  set in motion the well-trodden route to discredit the opposition party.  Thus riding on the possible fissures of disgruntled former MDC Alliance office bearers,  hired Tshabangu as their hunting dog. The rest is history. Earlier misadventure to dismiss Chamisa as leader of CCC proved unworkable,  for without Chamisa, Tshabangu had zero-credit political rating. His unconvincing posture that his fraction's leader is Chamisa has continued to wear thin. The recent development in which Tshabangu now appoints his "Interim National Committee", in the absence of any mandate-giving congress or indaba lays bare Tshabangu's conundrum. He is belatedly seeking reference,  authenticity and mandate where all along he has been a lone-ranger,  thanks to the active and enabling support from ZANU/CIO/FAZ, Speaker ofParliament and the captured judiciary. The tribal constitution of his committee belies the roots of his mandate from ZANU- to split Chamisa's support in Matebeleland. The total absence of any MDC Alliance or known CCC big names in that shambolic committee spells doom for Tshabangu's short political career. Herein lies Tshabangu's Waterloo. Those ZANOIDs who were harping on about the split within CCC must be disappointed with this peripety, as my Professor of Literature would term this sudden turn of events. With no known political heavyweights and pending Intellectual Property Theft charges,  Tshabangu is destined to the political dustbin.
