Youngest Zimbabwean Uni Student Maud Chifamba Joins World's Best MBA At Wharton School

Maud Chifamba, the youngest student ever to enrol in a university in Zimbabwe, has been accepted into the world’s first business school, the Wharton School, to pursue a Finance MBA program ranked as the best in the world. Established by Joseph Wharton in 1881, the institution has awarded degrees to many notable alumni, including former US President Donald Trump. In a recent social media post seen by Pindula News, Maud expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to study at the prestigious institution, including receiving a fully-funded fellowship worth USD155,000 as a Wharton Africa Fellow. She attributed her success to her family, community, and mentors who supported her throughout her journey. She said:

Moe is Wharton bound*

Beyond incredibly excited, proud, thrilled and grateful to share that I have been accepted into the World’s first business school, to study a Finance MBA ranked first in the WORLD, starting this August. On top of this huge blessing, I also received a USD155,000 fellowship as a Wharton Africa Fellow😭, which means my MBA is fully funded. God is beyond awesome and I bless every path that led me here!!!

All this for a girl born in Gokwe – where money was tight, but dreams were free. From the remote parts of Gokwe, Zimbabwe to the Ivy League – grace unmatched.

Extremely grateful to my family and community for the support in this journey. Special thanks to you Tumai Mafunga & Munashe Makava for your guidance & showing me bigger dreams. To my recommenders, Charity Rondozai-Mtwazi & Chiedza Juru – thank you for your grace while we worked together, and being willing to write about it. And to you my soundboard Lindiwe Xaba. This wouldn’t have been possible without your support.

Maud Chifamba in brief:

Maud Chifamba is a remarkable young woman who has achieved outstanding academic success and has been recognized for her achievements both in Zimbabwe and beyond. She was born on November 19, 1997, Maud faced significant challenges at a young age, including losing her father and caring for her mother, who suffered from cancer. However, she showed remarkable aptitude in her studies, impressing her primary school teachers, who moved her up from grade 3 to grade 6.

Despite financial challenges, Maud continued to pursue her education at home, and at the age of 11, she sat for her Ordinary Level exams and passed. She then went on to excel in her Advanced Level exams, earning a four-year scholarship from the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority to study for a degree in accounting at the University of Zimbabwe.

Maud’s academic achievements are truly exceptional. She enrolled at the University of Zimbabwe at the age of 14, making her the youngest student ever to be accepted at the university. She graduated in 2016 at the age of 18 with a Bachelor of Accountancy Honours Degree, making history as the youngest graduate in the university’s history. In 2018, she graduated with a Masters in Accountancy from the University of Zimbabwe at the age of 20.

In recognition of her remarkable achievements, Maud has received numerous awards and honours. In 2012, Forbes Magazine listed her as one of the 20 Youngest Power Women in Africa, alongside other distinguished Zimbabweans such as Danai Gurira and Jacqueline Chimhanzi. In 2014, she received the Great Young Achievers Award at the Great Women Awards held in Dubai, as well as the Panel Choice Award at the Zimbabwe International Women’s Awards.

Congratulations Moe!

Kgosi de_Ricch updates i @Kgosi de_Ricch promised to give you updates of Bulawayo Zanu Pf Star Rally. #Socialbrite 4ED Article from the ZBC PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says the Cowdray Park Health Centre is a model facility that speaks to modern standards in local health care delivery. He was speaking at the commissioning of the health facility in Bulawayo’s Cowdray Park suburb this Wednesday. President Mnangagwa said the model facility seeks to ensure citizens have access to the best possible health services. “This is a modern health care facility that is between a clinic and a hospital which has the best facilities and in some instances even better equipped than some of our hospitals so we are saying as a government we will build these in all communities in the country so that the health of our people is guaranteed. So we are happy as a government that we are changing lives in the health sector,” said the President. The health centre is set to bring health care services closer to the people of Cowdray Park and surrounding areas who were travelling to Mpilo Central Hospital and the United Bulawayo Hospitals to access treatment. The facility is part of government efforts to ensure universal health coverage. Bulawayo residents applauded President Mnangagwa’s government for implementing developmental projects that have transformed their lives. ZANU PF Second Secretary and Vice President, Dr Constantino Chiwenga the march towards the attainment of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030 is on. “As the ruling party, we want to take the nation to vision 2030. We aim to leave no one and no place behind and we are working towards reducing poverty in Zimbabwe. As people you have seen what is being done and heard what is being done in different parts of the country,” said Dr Chiwenga. “Here in Bulawayo there is a huge challenge of water problems and President Mnangagwa has ensured that the Gwayi Shangani dam is constructed we have seen what is being done at Nyamandlovu wooing forest to ensure water supply to Bulawayo. In Bulawayo, we have also seen the construction of clinics and hospitals. You have seen how the opposition-run councils have run down the city. What are the councils doing then if there is no service delivery in the community? Have you ever seen someone coming to your home to construct your house, if the opposition has better intentions then why have they failed to develop the city in the last 23 years? For those that are still lost l say come back home and on the 23rd of August let us go and vote for ZANU-PF.” His party counterpart, Cde Kembo Mohadi rallied the people of Bulawayo to vote for ZANU PF to guarantee the continuation of developmental strides across the country. “The only people who have the key to having more developmental projects being implemented in Bulawayo it is you the people of Bulawayo. You have heard and seen what is being done by the second republic and l have to say to the people of Bulawayo let us go and vote wisely and vote for ZANU-PF,” said Cde Mohadi. The ZANU PF Bulawayo provincial leadership is confident of a clean sweep for the ruling party. “With the multitudes of people that came today, this should be a sign to the opposition that Bulawayo is still alive and victory is certain. We will defend the gains of the revolution struggle,” said ZANU PF Bulawayo Province chairperson, Cde Jabulani Sibanda. During the star rally, a solar-powered mobile computer bus was unveiled to the Bulawayo community to capacitate youths with computer skills.

That health centre is the second of many many more to be built all over the country using a loan facility from the UK. Design and construction was done and will be done by the British.

A very remarkable person, and not a man! The most touching thing about this particular MBA is that all the names of those who supported her are not the popular names. She did not do a name drop of popular people who are known to have money and power! Just imagine that she is over the moon with US$155000 granted to het for the full world's best MBA, just half the amount of what some lady had in a handbag in gold bars. May the Lord keep blessing the young lady, showing us that women can, unknown people from unknown backgrounds can, and also that unknown helpers with no known influence in our society can raise others to become the best in the whole world!
