Jordan Zemura "Looking Forward" To Playing For Warriors Again

Warrior’s wing-back Jordan Zemura said he spent much of his time playing video games and spending more time with his family during FIFA international windows when Zimbabwe was suspended by the world football governing body.

The 23-year-old Udinese player said he was worried that the suspension could go for five years or more. He said:

I used to play video games and of course, spent most of my time with my family so I couldn’t get to think much about it (the suspension).

You know a football career is very short. I was thinking what if the suspension goes on for five or so years? My mind was spinning.

I really want to represent my country and defend the badge so it was a very painful experience knowing you could have gotten the chance to play for your country but you couldn’t.

It is something that affected not only me but hundreds of other players. I love my country first and foremost.

And to be unable to represent them was the most painful thing that I have had to endure in my short football career.

Zemura said despite his disappointment over the Warriors’ failure to participate in the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations to be held in Cote d’Ivoire next year due to the FIFA suspension, he was excited that the ban has been lifted. He said:

The feeling is immense. It’s great to know that I will be able to return home and represent Zimbabwe again.

It’s a shame we had to miss out on the African Cup of Nations qualifiers due to the suspension.

It feels great to know that we will be able to play international football again. It is a great feeling to be able to defend the flag. That is the greatest feeling a footballer can have.

I am really looking forward to seeing the staff and my international teammates again.

The group of players have a lot of quality and I am sure they are all ready to compete and perform for the badge.

The former AFC Bournemouth player is set to make history as the first Zimbabwean player to play in the Italian top flight.

When was the last time you visited Zimbabwe. We only want players who are ordinarily resident in Zim to play for the warriors. If you have been out for more than 18 months then forget about the national team, you have lost touch with the needs of Zim football. It's a new law.

What is politics? It's the food you eat, the water you drink, the air you breathe, what you wear, where you live, the games you play and watch. Zimbabwe was suspended from Fifa and CAF because of politics and hear you are thinking you can separate politics from human activities. It's unfortunate that your understanding of politics is not up to scratch. If those who are not ordinarily resident in Zimbabwe cannot vote or be voted why should those who are not ordinarily resident in Zimbabwe be allowed to take part in any national events or activities? They are both out of touch with what's on the ground, aren't they?

That guy is playing fr a better club than Bournemouth or Luton. Apart from that he is now earning cld it be 7 or 10 times more than what he was getting at Bournemouth. As good as he is there is no way out he can be sidelined in a national team like Zimbabwe
