Guspy Warrior Releases Six-track Album Titled Gold Mafia
Zimdancehall artiste Guspy Warrior, whose real name is Emmanuel Manyeruke, has released a six-track EP titled “Gold Mafia” following the release of a four-part investigative series by Al Jazeera with a similar title.
The EP was produced at Mafia Music and Genius Records and has six tracks: Number 1 Chibaba, Mi Nu Lie, Gold Mafia, Baba Muri Loss, Ndinotenda and Shungu.
In a post on Twitter on Saturday, Al Jazeera Investigations Unit said Guspy Warrior’s music showed that its documentary has been impactful. It said:
The I-Unit’s latest exposé is producing impact. Guspy Warrior, a Zimbabwean reggae artiste has produced this dancehall EP titled #GoldMafia.
The Gold Mafia documentary revealed a series of gold smuggling gangs in Southern Africa that help criminals launder hundreds of millions of dollars.
The criminals get rich while plundering their nations and keeping millions in poverty.
The gangs use gold to turn dirty cash into clean, seemingly legitimate money for those with large amounts of unaccounted wealth.
They do so by using a complex web of companies, counterfeit identities and fake documents.
The documentary also exposes the involvement of high-ranking officials from Zimbabwe in smuggling and money laundering to circumvent the sanctions imposed on the country.
