Music Fans Throw Missiles At Makhadzi Show In Mutare
South African musician Makhadzi, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, had to be whisked away from the stage after fans expressed anger over her poor performance on Friday night.
The Manica Post reported that fans threw cans and other missiles in anger at Manicaland Motoring Club, forcing Makhadzi’s security team to escort her from the stage.
Makhadzi not only started performing late (after midnight), but she also did not have a live band and performed not more than three songs.
Hundreds of fans who attended the show started throwing missiles and shouting obscenities while destroying barricades that separated the VIP section.
Some fans also lost cash and valuables in and outside the venue.
Makhadzi, whose stage name means an aunt, that is one’s father’s sister, in the Tshivenda language, was scheduled to be supported by Killer T, Andy Muridzo, and Lionell Matanda, popularly known as Caff, and others artists.
Makhadzi has been to Zimbabwe before. Last year she performed at the inaugural JamAfro Festival at Alex Sports Club in Harare, and five months later, she performed at Odyssey Lodge in Kadoma.
