One Of Two Problem Lions In Hwange Put Down By Zimparks
One of the two lions that have been killing livestock in Hwange has been put down, with authorities tracking the other one.
Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed the development to ZBC News. He said:
Our Zimparks reaction team together with Hwange Rural District Council have reacted to two problem animals in the area, and they managed to eliminate one lion.
FeedbackThese lions were killing cattle within the locality and we are still on the ground with the view of eliminating the remaining lion.
Last month, Zimparks rangers killed an elephant that had been wreaking havoc in Victoria Falls.
Human-wildlife conflict is common in communities that are near game parks and reserves and this has resulted in the death of people.
In 2022, about four people were trampled to death by elephants in Victoria Falls alone.
