"Next Khama Billiat" Has 5 Goals, 6 Assists For Jwaneng Galaxy
Botswana-based former Bosso-90 forward, Daniel Msendami, has been touted as the next Khama Billiat.
Billiat played for Zimbabwe at the Africa Cup of Nations and has also played for top teams in South Africa including Ajax, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, where he is currently plying his trade.
22-year-old Msendami has scored five goals in the 12 matches he has played for Jwaneng Galaxy, providing six assists in the process.
Predominantly a winger, Msendami was on target when Jwaneng Galaxy beat Prisons XI 7-0 last weekend has had nine starts and came from the bench in three outings.
Reports claim that teams in South Africa, Tanzania and Qatar are interested in the Zimbabwean.
Speaking in an interview with The Sunday News, Msendami’s coach Morena Ramoreboli, who led South Africa’s Bafana Bafana to the COSAFA Cup victory in 2021, said:
Honestly speaking, Daniel has been doing very well. I think sometimes it doesn’t matter the level you played before but what matters most is the talent and ability you possess.
I think Daniel has a very special talent. The first time I saw him I compared him to Khama Billiat. I said to myself this one is going to be the next Khama Billiat.
The Highlanders youth product Msendami moved to Botswana on a loan deal last year in August.
Jwaneng Galaxy then decided to make the deal permanent which was reportedly worth US$12 000.
The winger was brought to Highlanders by renowned youth development coach Dumaza Dube as an Under-15.
Dube, who is now based in Namibia believes Msendami is destined for greatness. Said Dube:
Msendami is pure talent. With the talent he has, he should have been promoted to the senior team at 15 to 17 thereabout, with the aim of European markets.
I’m happy for him because he moved out of his comfort zone and was never deterred after being overlooked and now he has shown what a talent he is.
Highlanders are entitled to receive 30 percent of the transfer fee if Jwaneng Galaxy sells Msendami because of a sell-on clause that was agreed on by the two clubs.
