ZANU PF Praises Former Kwekwe MDC MP Blessing Chebundo
Former MDC Central Kwekwe MP, Blessing Chebundo, has been lauded by ZANU PF for reportedly bringing new members to the ruling party from the opposition.
Addressing ZANU PF affiliates in Midlands Province recently, ZANU PF political commissar Mike Bimha commended Chebundo for a job well done. Bimha said:
I am impressed with what Cde Chebundo is doing he is massively recruiting from those who are in opposition.
FeedbackCde Chebundo is more likely to gain an audience from opposition members more than me.
We are seeing a lot of opposition members joining us due to Cde Chebundo’s efforts.
NewZimbabwe.com reported that Chebundo became famous at the turn of the millennium after he beat ZANU PF Kwekwe Central candidate Emmerson Mnangagwa in successive polls.
After the defeats, Mnangagwa retreated from Kwekwe and contested the rural Chirumhanzu-Zibagwe Constituency where he was elected MP.
Chebundo, however, left the opposition in February 2021 and joined ZANU PF after he was beaten in the then MDC Alliance party primary elections by Judith Tobaiwa.
