Mwonzora Expels Mudzuri, 6 Other Suspended Officials From MDC
MDC president Douglas Mwonzora has announced the expulsion of former party vice president Elias Mudzuri and six other long-serving members from the party.
Speaking at the party’s headquarters in Harare on Monday, 06 February, Mwonzora said Mudzuri and the other six officials, who were all on suspension, committed acts of gross misconduct by taking the MDC to court. NewsDay quoted Mwonzora as saying:
We have lifted the suspensions on Senator Mudzuri and the 6 others that is because the suspensions serve no purpose.
FeedbackIn terms of our constitution, they have expelled themselves from the party by taking the party to court.
In terms of clause 5.10a of the constitution of the MDC if you take the party to court you automatically expel yourself from the party.
The other six officials are Norest Marara, Mashonaland West province chairperson Gift Konjana, Masvingo province chairperson John Nyika, US province chairperson Den Moyo, secretary for Education, Edwin Dzambara and national executive member Edwin Kakora.
