Showers Not A Start Of The Rain Season - Met Department
The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) says the light showers recorded in some parts of the country over the past few days do not mark the start of the rainy season.
In an interview with State media, MSD head of forecasting James Ngoma said thundershowers are probable in the Matabeleland region, Midlands, Harare, Mashonaland East, and Bulawayo. He said:
The rains are still isolated and farmers cannot start planting now as some areas have not even received a drop.
FeedbackIsolated afternoon thundershowers are expected in areas along the main watershed with brief clouds coupled with hot and humid afternoon conditions.
All other areas should be mostly sunny and hot by the day, becoming mild towards evening.
Brief cloudy periods and odd showers remain probable over Beitbridge and Gwanda districts.
Last week MSD warned of the possibility of erratic rainfall across much of northern Zimbabwe from October to December.
It however forecasted normal to above normal rainfall in some central and southern western regions of the country over the same period. | Chronicle
