First Batch Of Zimbabwean Teachers Set To Leave For Rwanda
The first batch of Zimbabwean teachers assigned to Rwanda is set to travel in mid-October. 224 teachers will be leaving for the East African nation.
Zimbabwe and Rwanda signed a Memorandum of Understanding last year which will see Zimbabwean teachers to the central African country to cover a skills gap.
The minimum requirements for the educators were a bachelor’s degree and post-graduate qualification, according to a recruitment manual that was jointly agreed to facilitate the hiring.
Leona Musekiwa and Faith Mukunditsa who are among the top education experts travelling to Rwanda under a government-to-government agreement told ZBC News that they will perform diligently. Musekiwa said:
I am very excited, I never thought I would make it this far. I want to thank our President for opening this opportunity for us and trusting us to be ambassadors to Rwanda. I am very happy.
I promise to showcase the best that we have as Zimbabwe. This indeed is something that we are very grateful for.
This Saturday, they joined their counterparts for a pre-departure seminar that familiarised them with expectations and working conditions.
The government notes the organised migration initiative is a bold statement of commitment to providing enhanced opportunities beyond the country’s borders.
