ZINARA Raises Toll Gate Fees
Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) Monday raised Toll Gate fees by 36 per cent amid the fall of the local currency at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ)’s foreign currency exchange auction since the last change.
The review was on the local currency as follows
a). light motor vehicles now paying $300 up from $220,
Feedbackb). minibuses $450 up from $330,
c). buses $600,
d). heavy vehicles $730 and
e). heavy haulage trucks $1 450.
Toll fees are set in US dollars, with Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) to convert at the ruling auction exchange rate.
ZINARA is empowered to follow the weekly auction rate and is allowed to adjust each week if it wishes.
ZINARA spokesperson Mr Tendai Mugabe confirmed the new adjusted fees which he said were in line with the prevailing US dollar auction rate.
Mr Mugabe said all the collections by ZINARA would be accounted for, with accounting procedures being tightened.
ZINARA is currently spearheading and funding the road infrastructure revolution after President Emmerson Mnangagwa declared all roads were in a “state of emergency.”
Last year, he announced the government’s commitment of $30 billion towards the rehabilitation of 10 000kms of the country’s roads.
