Hospitalised Teacher Appeals For Help
A 58-year-old teacher at Sigonde Primary School in Umguza District, Matabeleland North Province, is appealing for US$3 500 to undergo a tumour operation in Harare.
The teacher, Mandlenkosi Moyo, is admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital and bills are accumulating, his wife, Alice Moyo, said.
Mrs Moyo told the Chronicle that her husband started experiencing stomach pains in April and visited a doctor who prescribed some stomach medication but he got worse. She said:
He went for three visits to the doctor with the same problem and nothing changed, after the third visit he complained about itchiness on the skin and his eyes were changing colour.
When we visited the doctor again, he told us it was Jaundice and we were referred to Mpilo Central Hospital.
Moyo was diagnosed with a tumour that is blocking where the bile duct and pancreas meet and the surgeon recommended that an operation be carried out in Harare to correct the anomaly at a cost of US$3 500.
However, the couple cannot afford to meet the expenses and is therefore asking for financial assistance to raise the money to pay for the operation.
