Speaking to the Daily News after the meeting, Mangunda who doubles as the club’s spokesperson said they informed Mnangagwa of the progress the club has made as a business and also challenges emanating from the coronavirus crisis. Said Mangunda:
We had a good time with his Excellency at the State House who took his time to have a meeting with us.
We were there to present to him the progress that we have made so far in terms of club business and the challenges we are currently facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We discussed the challenges that are affecting the club for instance the problems that affect junior development, attainment of assets and the challenges affecting the club from attaining a CAF licence.
During the meeting, the DeMbare delegation also presented a Number-One (1) replica jersey to the president as well as a lion sculptor which resembles his totem.
The meeting came about a month after Mnangagwa met with Highlanders FC leadership where he pledged to help the club in their mining venture.
