Leaked Audio Exposes Former ZESA Boss Sydney Gata's Alleged Corruption
An audio that ZimMorning Post is in possession of exposes how a ZESIT official James Dzumbira reportedly exposed suspended ZESA CEO Sydney Gata’s alleged corruption, ZimMorning Post reports.
In the alleged audio Dzumbira is reportedly heard instructing ZETDC Information Technology department boss identified as Freeman Chikonzo to open an IT company that will be awarded a digitalisation project contract.
Dzumbira reportedly even said Gata will fund them if they submit a concept proposal to ZESIT with the assurance that they will be awarded the contract.
In the audio Dzumbira reportedly said:
What I want you to do is set up a team of IT fundis in three to four days. We are having presentations next week at the national training centre and once the team submits a concept proposal ,we then say this and this company is ready for the project and we submit the proposal to chairman (Gata) and he will give us the money.
What we are doing is trying to assist Zesa, revenue assurance, digitalisation, generation. We are looking for people to work with because that is what the chairman wants.remember. Tikada kumirira kwenyu, it will take forever, going to tender and all the processes, but if we go via trust it will be quicker,
So your team can give us a proposal for digitalisation and we doing presentations next week at the national training centre. We meet them and tofamba tiriright
Dzambura reportedly told Chikonzo that the project could be his retirement plan and said:
Isn’t it you will need to retire,that is where you get something.
Gata was suspended by the president who also dissolved the entire ZESA board on graft charges last month.
