"Tagwirei, Sakunda Essential For Zimbabwe's Economic Transformation," - ZANU PF

The ruling ZANU PF has said businessman Kuda Tagwirei and his Sakunda Holdings are of paramount significance to the economic transformation of Zimbabwe.

This was said by the party’s acting secretary of information, Patrick Chinamasa during a press conference held in Harare on Friday during which he criticised the United States of America for imposing sanctions on the businessman and his company. He said:

ZANU PF wishes to place it on record that it considers Mr Tagwirei and Sakunda Holdings a respected player and stakeholder in the economy of Zimbabwe just as we are sure General Electric is considered a respected economic player in the USA and globally.

He added that ZANU PF expects many “more Tagwireis and fellow indigenous entrepreneurs” to be successful world-class businesses that will have immense contribution to the reconstruction of the country’s economy

Chinamasa insinuated that the sanctions are related to the American company (APR Energy) losing the Dema Diesel Power Project which was awarded to Sakunda Holdings.

The former Finance Minister said the sanctions were imposed based on falsehoods that Tagwirei was through his companies engaging in underhand dealings thereby prejudicing the state of the much-needed resources.
