ZANU PF Official Speaks On The Meaning Of #ZimbabweanLivesMatter To The Party
Obert Mpofu, the secretary for administration for the ruling ZANU PF has said the #ZimbabweanLivesMatter movement speaks to the reason why ZANU PF was formed.
The online movement was initiated in response to the deepening governance and human rights crisis in the country with government officials and state security agents identified as the main culprits.
Mpofu was responding to a question by Open Parly in an online question and answer session. Open Parly had asked:
#ZimbabweanLivesMatter what does it mean to you?
Itโs a hashtag which speaks to the reason why we are in existence as a liberation movement. We engaged in struggle because Zimbabweans Lives Mattered yesterday and still Matter today.
He speaks when some, including members of the governing ZANU PF are saying the party has diverged from the values and ethos that triggered the liberation struggle.
The state, the governing ZANU PF, is being accused of perpetuating injustice and engaging in back door deals that have resulted in the collapse of the economy and suffering of the general populace.
The war against the white settlers was waged to restore values such as equality, human rights and independence.
