FULL THREAD: "Pathetic" Davis Laque Discusses Whether To Re-Open Parly Or Not

A political analyst, Davis Laque, has said that it is a waste of time to reopen Parliament in Zimbabwe has nothing will be achieved in both the House of Assembly and the Senate due to the politicisation of discourses.
He tweeted:
At face value, you would think, we need to fully open #Parliament. Gov needs to be kept on check. Policy discussion & dissemination of info, all point towards the need to #ReopenZimParliament However, the more you watch it, the less you’re convinced we need Parliament at all.
Was laughing at #Mwonzora as he castigated #MDC_A #MPs who have defied his court granted authority, to continue going to #Parliament. His argument was, govt needs to be kept in check. A few hours back, #ZiyambiZiyambi had embarrassingly belittled him in that same #Parliament. If #Mwonzora is to be honest with himself, he hasn’t achieved anything in that #Parliament as #Senator. Not even because he isn’t effective, but because the people they are supposed to be playing #watchdog on, are just unrelenting. You barely see any meaningful engagements. Over the years, #ParliamentPortfolioCommittes have been reduced to theatres for political posturing. People are summoned and don’t show up. Some do and are defended by other committee members. #Legislators can easily start fighting amongst themselves. It’s pathetic.#Ministers are the worst. The majority barely attend sessions. Those who do aren’t consistent. Those who are consistent easily hide behind #sanctions & the #legitimacy debacle whenever they can’t account. Our #Parliament has just been systematically rendered #disfunctional. So really, instead of MPs going to sleep in #Harare hotels, let’s have them in their #constituencies attending to day to day issues. The likes of @regaitsunga, @hwendec, @TembaMliswa, @BitiTendai have/had become very visible in their constituencies. We need more of this.Talking of #Hwende, spare a thought for #Kuwadzana residents. A party selected #Mwonzora, took away their elected representative probably when they needed him most. But that sums up the nature of #Zimbabwean #politics. The worst amongst us are the most #powerful.
In SA for instance, #PresRamaphosa will avail himself for #Parliament grilling. He will be personally accountable should @ParliamentofRSA open. Down here, if we open tomorrow, who will be showing up? Respectfully, why then do we even need the #AugustHouse to start running?
