"Few Men In Human History Have Spurned A Golden Opportunity The Way Mnangagwa Did," - BSR
Alex Tawanda Magaisa, a law lecturer in the United Kingdom asserts that President Emmerson Mnangagwa wasted a golden opportunity to pull Zimbabwe out of its economic, humanitarian and political crises.
He said that following the military assisted transition that resulted in the demise of former President Mugabe, Zimbabwe was perceived as entering a new dispensation and the international community was ready to embrace the Southern African country. Magaisa added:
Few men in the course of human history have spurned a golden opportunity the way Mnangagwa did. The current decrepit state of Zimbabwe reflects an abject failure to take advantage of the opportunities that existed after the coup. It is fair to say that his foreign policy of re-engagement has so far failed to pay dividends.
FeedbackHis remarks come at the backdrop of the extension of sanctions on Zimbabwe by the United States of America and the United Kingdom while the European Union has suspended sanctions on some government officials.
Some countries, including Japan, UK and the US, assert that contrary to government’s claims, Zimbabwe is not committed to implementing recommended and essential reforms which are premised at ushering the country into and or enhancing democracy.
