FC Platinum Dumped Out Of CAF Champions League

FC Platinum (FCP) will not make it to the knockout stages of the 2019/20 CAF Champions League after suffering their fourth defeat in Group B of the competition on Saturday.

Pure Platinum Play lost 0-1 to Sudanese side Al Hilal in a match played at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

FCP coach Hendrik Pieter de Jongh bemoaned his side’s failure to score from the penalty spot, an opportunity he believed would have changed the complexion of the match. He said:

We played from our side very nice football, good movement, big chances to score the penalty kick, we missed the penalty kick, crucial moment in the game because if we had scored and made it one zero it was easier to play. Congratulations to the opponents, they are in a good position to qualify.

Left-back Tawana Chikore sent the ball wide from the penalty spot in the first half while Al Hilal substitute Mohamed Musa scored the only goal of the match following a swift counterattack.
