SB Moyo Tells Diplomats Harare Won't Accept External Mediation
Foreign Affairs Minister Sibusiso Moyo has ruled out external mediation for Zimbabwe’s crises, at the same time chiding MDC leader Nelson Chamisa for “stubbornness”.
Addressing diplomats accredited to Zimbabwe at the annual diplomatic reception on Wednesday, Moyo said:
Some stubbornly refuse to accept the outcome of the 2018 election; refuse to lend themselves or their ideas to the national dialogue process initiated by the President.
FeedbackSome continue to call for sanctions and the diplomatic isolation of their own country, believing that only external mediation can heal the deep polarisation which continues to afflict our nation and our people.
We believe that Zimbabweans must be allowed, encouraged and afforded the space to find one another, by themselves.
Chamisa has consistently refused to recognise President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the legitimate Head of State.
He has also snubbed the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD), a dialogue platform established by President Mnangagwa that brings together the losers in the 2018 presidential election.
