Former Eskom Chief Executive Officer, Matshela Koko, said he has failed to make progress on his 100-megawatt solar power plant because government officials are demanding bribes from him.
Koko’s company, Matshela Energy, was awarded a licence to generate electricity by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) in July this year. Writing on microblogging site Twitter on Friday, Koko said:
Matshela Energy received a generation license in July 2019.
Feedback6 months later nothing has happened.
Our plan was to break ground in August 2019.
So many people have tried to extort money from me and I refused.
It is a shame.
