"The President Is Currently Under Military Attack In Marondera," Chamisa Spokesperson
Dr Nkululeko Sibanda, the spokesperson of the leader of the opposition MDC, Nelson Chamisa has claimed that the youthful leader was under military attack. He posted on twitter saying:
President Chamisa @nelsonchamisa is currently under military attack in Marondera. He remains unfazed.
It is however not clear what kind of attack is Chamisa exposed to. Earlier MDC Masvingo Branch had posted on Twitter alleging that heavily armed police and military personnel were at the event where the party intended to plant trees. MDC Masvingo posted:
Heavy armed police and military personnel on a planned @mdczimbabwe tree planting Activity planned by members of the MDC. They stopped the event this is surely a military state. @edmnangagwa is a failure he has disqualified himself from preaching about democracy
Meanwhile, Tsungirai Shoriwa responded to Sibanda’s post on Twitter saying:
He is trying to do a tree-planting ceremony at Cherutombo Primary in Marondera and has been (only) denied entry chete. Why he even chose a govt institution for that is incomprehensible. The clash was inevitable and it appears that’s what he also wanted.
The development comes at a time when the state has blocked a number of MDC gatherings saying that there was evidence suggesting that they would degenerate into chaos.
