WATCH: "People Are Hurting And Want To Be Heard," UN Secretary General

Antonio Guterres, the ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations has said that the uprisings experienced globally were a sign of dwindling trust between the general populace and political institutions. A number of countries have recorded scores of demonstrations lately as citizens expressed to their governments’ ways of conducting business or over the deteriorating state of affairs. He said:

The global wave of demonstrations we are witnessing shows a growing lack of trust between people and political establishments. People are hurting and want to be heard. We must listen to the real problems of real people, and work to restore the social contract.
