MDC Alliance MPs Punished For Walking Out On ED
Parliament has withheld sitting allowances for MDC Alliance MPs ranging between $9 000 and $15 000 for each legislator as punishment for walking out on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) last month.
This was confirmed to the Daily News on Thursday by MDC chief whip Prosper Mutseyami. He said:
We have not received anything in terms of our allowances so it means they have carried out their threat to punish us but we are going to fight it out although I am not at liberty to say how at the moment.
FeedbackSoon after Mnangagwa had delivered the SONA, National Assembly Speaker Jacob Mudenda announced that the opposition party’s MPs will not get the sitting allowances they were owed for the past 5 months.
MPs get RTGS$700.00 per every sitting after it was hiked from $75.00.
