Tour de Falcon 2019 On Today
The annual Tour de Falcon event will kick off today with hundreds of athletes expected to participate in the cycling and racing event to be held at Esigodini’s Falcon College. The Falcon College Headmaster Reginald Querl described the event as an event for the whole family when he said:
The Tour de Falcon has become a traditional and major cycling event on the Zimbabwe cycling calendar. The event has always been about competition, but is family oriented and is a lot about having an ‘outing in the country’. It’s off road and on road. It’s an event that caters for the elite cyclist but also that person cycling as a form of exercise and recreation.
The Falcon College Head of Marketing Raquel Fouche said participants from Zimbabwe and even Botswana have registered to participate in the event:
This week has been wonderful with the Bulawayo community coming in and registering. We have seen athletes from Harare, Gweru and even Botswana signing up. I am looking forward to Sunday and watching the community come together under sports.
The cyclists will cycle from Bulawayo to Esigodini a 42.5 KM stretch and runners will participate in different races. Non-monetary prices are to be won. Tour de Falcon sponsors include Fawcett Security, Castrol, Falcon Old Boys Society and Fazak Power.
