"Wait For His Rufaro Stadium Funeral Wake," MDC Plans Demo At Mugabe's Funeral
Some members of the opposition MDC led by advocate Nelson Chamisa are purportedly planning to defy leader’s order and demonstrate at the funeral of Zimbabwe’s founding leader, the late Robert Mugabe.
One of the MDC youths who spoke on anonymity to a local publication New Zimbabwe said:
We are not happy at all. This is a man who killed our members for fun during his days in power. We cannot pretend that he is a saint today. Wait for his Rufaro Stadium funeral wake.
FeedbackThat African culture dictates that we sanctify the departed is not applicable here. Chamisa, Biti and all other party leaders should just have kept their mouths shut.
Generational Consensus Coordinator and human rights defender, Pride Mkono said that those celebrating Mugabe’s legacy of violence were either nonsensical, naive or both. Mukono also expressed shock in the soft stance which the MDC leadership has adopted.
These remarks come after both Chamisa and party vice president, advocate Tendai Biti have said that Zimbabwe needed to appreciate Mugabe’s contribution to the country, before independence and after.
