JUST IN: Mighty Warriors Lose 5-0 To Zambia

The Zimbabwe national women’s football team, the Mighty Warriors were beaten 5-0 by Zambia in an Olympic Qualifier played in Zambia on Wednesday afternoon.

All of Zambia’s five goals were scored in the second half. The Mighty Warriors have a mammoth task to overturn the deficit in the second leg to be played at the National Sports Stadium this Sunday.

While it is not yet clear how the Zimbabweans unravelled, the fact that all the goals came in the second half suggests that fatigue may have taken its toll. The girls travelled to Zambia by road on Monday and arrived barely 48 hours before the match was due to kick-off.
