"It's Not Easy To Lose, But You've To Accept You Lost", Angolan Ambassador Tells Chamisa
The MDC Alliance has been told to accept that they lost the 2018 harmonised elections. This was said by the outgoing Angolan ambassador to Zimbabwe Pedro Hendrik Vaal Neto.
Ambassador Neto was speaking to journalists after bidding farewell to president Mnangagwa at his Munhumutapa Offices in Harare today. He said:
Whenever an opposition party loses in an election they must not work against their country but support the winner in the nation building.
FeedbackThe opposition must accept the realities that they lost the elections. It is not easy to lose, but you have to accept that you have lost and give the opportunity to the ones who won to govern and even to give support.
You do not lose your identity. You still remain Zimbabwean hence you have a duty to work in favour of your country. Being in opposition does not mean that you become a foreigner.
The MDC claims that ZANU PF and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) jointly manipulated the electoral process in favour of the ruling party. Resultantly, the opposition party refused to accept the outcome even after the Constitutional Court ruled that ZANU PF won after the MDC failed to present compelling evidence to prove the election was tampered with.
Meanwhile, analysts have been advising the two parties to come together so as to resolve the political and economic crises. However, a dialogue so far seems unlikely as ZANU PF is refusing to yield to MDC demands including the discussion of President Mnangagwa’s legitimacy.
