"Tsvangirai Copied Mugabe’s Ways & Bequeathed Them On Chamisa!”, ANALYST
Political analyst, Maxwell Saungweme has argued that the MDC’s just ended 5th Congress has entrenched the idea of hero worshipping which initially started by the former president Robert Mugabe. The congress elected Chamisa (uncontested( as the party president from now forward.
Speaking to the Daily News, Saungweme said that Chamisa emerged from the Congress very strong. The youthful leader has powers to appoint party members into some top positions. Saungweme said:
Personality cult politics is there to stay in that party for a while. So apart from ages, the change is difficult to see and feel if you dig deeper. Tsvangirai copied Mugabe’s ways and bequeathed them on Chamisa!
FeedbackThe congress saw some party big wigs including Douglas Mwonzora and Elias Mudzuri being relegated to mere card-carrying members. Their only chance to revive their political careers is by being appointed into vacant positions by the party president.
