Police Nab 2 For Smuggling Tractor, Excavator From Mozambique
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested two people who were part of a gang of four, suspected of stealing a vehicle on May 4 in Harare’s Central Business District. The police said in a statement:
Two accused persons were arrested for Theft from Motor Vehicle which occurred in Harare Central Business District on 04 May 2019 at around 1600 hours. The two accused persons were part of a gang of four when they approached a motorist who was seated in his vehicle.
In another case, police arrested two suspects for smuggling an excavator and tractors from Mozambique. The police statement reads as follows:
Police in Manicaland has arrested two suspects for smuggling an excavator and a Tractor from Mozambique to Zimbabwe through an illegal crossing point in Katiyo.
Police received information from an informer and acted swiftly to the tip-off and managed to arrest the duo and recovered a Massey Ferguson 4×4 tractor, a trailer, bowser and a yellow excavator parked at a certain estate.
We urge the public to refrain from engaging in nefarious activities such as smuggling as this impact negatively on the economic development of the country.
Perpetrators of crime will be dealt with in accordance with the law. Meanwhile, the ZRP applauds members of the public for their co-operation in supplying information that led to the arrest of the suspects in Manicaland.
