Shooting On Independence Left One Dead And One Critically Ill.
A Silobela man has appeared before Gweru magistrate in connection with the shooting on Independence Day at Silobela Dam Site Bottle Store that has left one dead and another in a fragile state.
It is alleged that Mike Mlilo of Magola from Silobela shot Gift Bhebhe in the neck and Xolani Magigwana on the left thigh at Dam Site Bottle Store in Insukamini after they accused him of flashing lights at them.
Mlilo who appeared before Gweru magistrate Beaulity Dube facing murder and attampted murder charges was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to May 3. He was also advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
It is alleged that Mlilo who was driving a Ford Ranger was approached by a group of patrons who who were armed with machetes, knives and stones accusing him of flashing his car lights into their faces while they were in a bar.
A heated debate is alleged to have ensued resulting in Mlilo pulling his pistol. He then fired at Bhebhe and Magigwana who were later rushed to Lower Gweru Mission Hospital where Bhebhe was pronounced dead on arrival.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Mlilo’s arrest.
