China To Reconstruct Cyclone Damaged Schools, Roads And Bridges

The Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Guo Shaochun has revealed his government’s commitment to enhancing Zim-Sino relations. He indicated that this can be done by focusing on infrastructure development.

Speaking after visiting the Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister, Joel Biggie Matiza, Guo said:

We had a good discussion on how to improve cooperation between China and Zimbabwe particularly in the area of transport and infrastructure. China and Zimbabwe enjoy a long time friendship and we are partners.

We have been doing well in practical cooperation. Last year, we completed the expansion project of the Airport in Victoria Falls. We have successfully completed the Kariba South Hydro Power Station and we also launched the expansion of the Hwange Thermal Power Station and the expansion of the (Robert Gabriel Mugabe) International Airport. We are looking at more opportunities to embark on to enhance our practical cooperation.

Guo further said:

We may focus more attention to the areas affected by Cyclone Idai in the reconstruction of schools, the roads, and bridges.
