Zifa Consoles Family Of Warriors Fan Who Died In Stampede At NSS
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has sent condolences to the family of a soccer fan who was killed during a stampede at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
A middle-aged woman died in a stampede at the entrance into the stadium when people clamoured to get inside before the match started.
The ZIFA statement issued through social media reads:
Our heartfelt condolences go to the family and friends of a Warriors supporter who passed on after being trampled on at the Warriors match yesterday.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
We wish those who have injured a speedy recovery.
We shall continue to work towards making our admission processes at entry points more swift so that recurrence of such unfortunate events can be avoided.
The unfortunate incident overshadowed the Warriors’ 2-0 win over Congo Brazzaville.
The win ensures that the Warriors sealed qualification for AFCON 2019, top of their group.
