South Africa's Main Opposition Party, DA To Reveal Next Step To Resolve Zim Crisis
South Africa’s main opposition party, the Democratic Alliance said that it will announce on Monday the next steps it will take in order to resolve Zimbabwe’s current crisis. A statement issued by the DA president Mmusi Maimane read in part:
Despite concerted pressure from the DA, President Ramaphosa and his government have failed to show leadership and intervene in what has now become a humanitarian crisis. It is vital that stability is restored in Zimbabwe and in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
To date, Ramaphosa has simply called for the end to sanctions against Zimbabwe. The president is mistaken to focus solely on the economic situation in Zimbabwe whilst turning a blind eye to the dictator-like military clampdown on citizens which has to date claimed the lives of at least 12 people.
