Chamisa, Biti To Appear Before Motlanthe Commission Today
The Herald reports MDCAlliance spokesperson Jacob Mafume confirmed yesterday that party leader Nelson Chamisa and deputy chairperson Tendai Biti will testify before the Commission of Inquiry into the August 1 Post-Election Violence that resulted in the death of 6 people.
Mafume said MDC Alliance was satisfied with the reasons why the Kgalema Motlanthe chaired commission had turned down Chamisa’s conditions. Said Mafume:
We have had a dialogue with the commission and we are satisfied with the explanation that they gave us. We are now clear as to how we will give our testimony and the issues at hand.
FeedbackCommission spokesperson John Masuku said today’s hearings were earmarked for Chamisa and Biti. Said Masuku:
We are still expecting them to testify tomorrow (Monday) at 1400hrs and there is nothing that has been placed before the commission to suggest that they were not coming
Masuku said it was up to the commission to exercise its discretion whether to call President Mnangagwa and Vice President Chiwenga.
