Normal To Below Normal Rainfall Expected For 2018/19 Season: Met Department

The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has warned that the coming season is likely to have normal to below normal rainfall. The MSD said that this was due to the El Niño effect.  The El Nino phenomenon is expected to affect 70 percent of the country. The  Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate, Ambassador Grace Mutandiro said,

However, it is not always the case that El Nino will result in a drought. Experts will deliberate on the outcome and Government and other key stakeholders will be directed accordingly.
