Mugabe Expected To Lead Former Presidents In Congratulating Mnangagwa At Inauguration Ceremony

Former president Robert Mugabe who had previously declared that he was not going to vote for his former protegee, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is on the programme for Mnangagwa’s inauguration at the National Sports Stadium. Mugabe and his wife, former first lady Grace Mugabe are expected to lead the list of former presidents and heads of states in congratulating Mnangagwa and shaking his hand. Until now, Mugabe had refused to appear in public endorsing his former lieutenant.

Update

Mugabe was not able to attend the inauguration and sent his daughter Bona Mugabe Chikore in his stead.  Bona who was accompanied by her husband Simba Chikore, delivered a letter in which Mugabe said that he was unable to attend the function because he was not feeling well.  He also said, that Grace was not well but congratulated Mnangagwa on his victory.
