Mnangagwa Administration To Compensate White Farmers By September: Chinamasa
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Patrick Chinamasa has said that former white farmers who lost their land will be compensated by September this year. Chinamasa said that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration will compensate the former farmers in the next four months in accordance with the Consitution of the country.
Speaking to investors in Washington at World Bank meetings recently, Chinamasa said,
The new dispensation has taken the decision to finalise, by September 2018, compensation to all former farmers affected by the land reform programme, in accordance with the country’s Consitution.
FeedbackHowever, according to the Financial Gazette. Mnangagwa’s administration will need to cough up close to $9 billion to compensate at least 4 000 white farmers who lost their land under the controversial land reform program.
