Govt Promises To Announce Dates Of 2017 Bonus Payments For Civil Servants Soon
The government through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development has promised to announce soon, the pay dates on which civil servants will receive their 2017 bonus payments. The government also said that like in the past, the bonus payments will be staggered. Permanent Secretary for Finance and Economic Development, Willard Manungo said:
Minister Chinamasa will shortly be communicating the payment dates.
We’re yet to set the date for the announcement, but it will be soon. The payment of bonuses will be staggered as we have said before.
FeedbackThis comes after civil servants have complained about the government’s seeming reluctance to address the matter, despite repeated appeals. Cecilia Alexander the chairperson of the Apex Council, the umbrella body for civil servants said:
We’ve been trying to engage the Government to find out its position on the bonus payouts. They’ve been saying they’re working it out without giving us full details.
This is worrisome because our constituency wants to know the Government’s position. It’s causing a lot of anxiety among the workers….I’m, therefore, appealing to Government to keep us informed so that we maintain order within the civil service.”
