G40 Members Accused Of Stealing Party Name, Threatened With Legal Action
Engineer Tendai Munyanduri has accused ousted Zanu-PF members of stealing his party’s name “New Patriotic Front”.
Munyanduri told The Herald that he notified the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) on January 23 that he had rebranded his Progressive and Innovative Movement of Zimbabwe (PIMZ) to The New Patriotic Front (TNPF). Munyanduri said he would institute legal action if the G40 members proceed to use the name officially. Said Munyanduri:
I rebranded my political party to New Patriotic Front last month and wrote to ZEC to that effect. I appeared in (the local media) last month and I was surprised to read in The Sunday Mail that Mugabe, Grace and Mujuru want to use the same name. Maybe they have liked our name or are probably trying to join us. NPF is home to all those who would like to see our country together with the international community excel. We believe in honesty, professionalism and integrity. We value excellence and have a passion to see our country excel. We will talk to them to desist from using the name and take legal action if necessary.
