Dereck Chisora claims he finds reading "very hard" because he was educated in Zimbabwe
Zimbabwean-born British heavyweight boxer Dereck Chisora has claimed that he finds reading documents “very hard” because he was educated in Zimbabwe until his teens when he, later on, moved to the United Kingdom.
Chisora made the claims when he appeared in court appealing against a sentence for having no insurance for his vehicle. The 33-year-old had been a 6-month driving ban for driving without an insurance. Chisora however, appealed against the sentence claiming that he believed that he was insured because he trusted a friend and an employee to arrange the cover. While he admitted that it was his responsibility as the driver to check the insurance, Chisora admitted he trusted someone else to deal with the paperwork due to the fact that he found reading documents “very hard” due to being educated in Zimbabwe.
In the end, Chisora avoided a driving ban after the judge ruled:
From all that, we don’t feel it would be appropriate or proportionate for any points to be awarded. Therefore no points are necessary.
