The State Tuesday requested that the blood-stained clothes recovered from Tafadzwa Shamba, the chief suspect in the murder of seven-year-old Tapiwa Makore (Jnr), be brought before the High Court for examination.
This comes as Shamba has said <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/09/30/herdsman-reveals-gruesome-details-of-murehwa-boy-ritual-murder/">he initially admitted</a> to <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/new-twist-to-tapiwa-makore-case-shamba-says-he-admitted-to-murder-under-duress/">killing Tapiwa under duress.</a> He denied the link to the offence claiming that the blood spots that were found on his pair of trousers were from a chicken he had slaughtered at Makore Snr’s homestead.
Tapiwa was <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/09/21/ritual-killings-blamed-for-the-death-of-a-7-year-old-murehwa-boy-whose-body-was-found-with-body-parts-missing/">murdered in Murewa in 2020 in a suspected ritual killing.</a>
During the trial yesterday, the State advised High Court judge Justice Munamato Mutevedzi that it intends to submit Shamba’s blood-soiled clothes as an exhibit, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200001860/makore-murder-state-to-submit-suspects-blood-stained-clothes">NewsDay</a> reported.
Prosecutor Albert Masamha told Mutevedzi that the clothes were being worn by Shamba on the day he allegedly killed Tapiwa.
The evidence is expected to strengthen the State case against Shamba, who is denying the murder charge.
On Monday, the High Court ordered that evidence on how Shamba committed the offence must be tendered in court as it had led to the recovery of Tapiwa’s body parts.
Prosecutors allege that Shamba beheaded Tapiwa and disposed of his limbs at different places.
While giving oral evidence in court, police detective Andrew Nyadundu said they found Shamba’s clothes hidden at the late boy’s uncle and namesake Tapiwa Makore (Snr)’s homestead.
He said this triggered him to check the clothes, and Makore Snr confirmed that they belonged to Shamba.
Police also discovered a blood-stained white vest from Shamba’s place.
Shamba’s confessions led to the recovery of blood-stained denim shorts, which he was wearing when he allegedly murdered Tapiwa.
Tapiwa is believed to have been murdered by his uncles, Makore Snr, Thanks Makore, and a relative, Moud Hunidzarira from Nyamutumbu village in Murehwa on September 17, 2020.
He was allegedly drugged before he was taken to a mountain and beheaded for ritual purposes.
His torso was found being eaten by dogs the following morning.
Other body parts were found dumped in pit latrines. His remains were buried last year with the head missing.
The trial continued today.

Tapiwa Makore Murder Case: State To Present Suspect's Blood-stained Clothes

The family of Tapiwa Makore, a seven-year-old Murehwa boy who was murdered for ritual purposes in September last year has said the release on bail of one of the suspects has reopened would in their hearts.
Tapiwa’s father Munyaradzi Makore told NewsDay on Tuesday that one of the suspects was granted bail and is already back in the village, a move that has stirred emotions and refreshed memories. He said:
<blockquote>The woman, who was arrested alongside Shamba and my brother in connection with my son’s murder, is out on bail. She is here. She was granted $10 000 bail at the High Court. It is hard for the family, our emotions have been stirred again, and memories refreshed. How are we going to live together given the current situation?  We are still pained. We should be apart.</blockquote>
Tapiwa’s uncle and namesake, Tapiwa Makore (Snr, 58), his herdboy Tafadzwa Shamba (41), and a neighbour Maud Hunidzarira (42) were arrested last year in connection with the murder.
Shamba confessed to having murdered the boy at the instruction of Tapiwa (Snr) claiming that they wanted to use some of the body parts to boost their horticultural project.
Hunidzarira, known for brewing traditional opaque beer in the area and a neighbour of the Makores, was arrested in Budiriro after she was spotted washing a blood-stained carpet.

The deceased’s father said the family was appalled by the delays by the courts as they seek justice. He said:
<blockquote>The police notified us that the matter will go to court, but we are still waiting. Surely, how can a matter of such magnitude take this long to conclude? We will engage the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights to assist us in our pursuit of justice.</blockquote>
Tapiwa was buried after six months before investigations, which included a number of DNA tests, were concluded. He was buried without some of his body parts, among them the head.
