A woman from Bikita, Masvingo Province, allegedly forced her three minor children to drink poison before taking her life following a domestic dispute.
According to <a href="https://masvingomirror.com/woman-forces-3-children-to-drink-poison-takes-her-life/">The Mirror</a>, Persistence Mazhe (31) of Duma in Nyika, Bikita took her own life at her rural home in the Zinhata area, Farm 269 in Gutu, after she had an altercation with her husband, on Monday, 06 May.
Mazhe’s husband, Joas Taramusha said she phoned him to inform him that she was travelling to their rural home to commit suicide.
Taramusha said his son aged nine died upon admission at Silveira Mission Hospital while his two siblings aged seven and three were admitted at the hospital.
He said Mazhe bought a pesticide and forced the children to drink before she consumed it as well. Said Taramusha:

I stayed at Nyika Growth Point in Bikita with my family and I argued with my wife. She phoned me yesterday morning and informed me that she was travelling to our rural home in Gutu to commit suicide.
She phoned again after a few hours and told me that she was going to commit suicide. She bought a pesticide and forced the children to drink before she gulped it.
My brother phoned me and informed me that she had forced the children to drink the pesticide. We rushed them to Silveira Mission Hospital. My son died upon admission.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Masvingo Province, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa could not readily confirm the incident.

Bikita Woman Forces Her 3 Children To Drink Poison, Takes Her Own Life

A double funeral was held on Wednesday for a Bulawayo businessman and his mistress who he brutally murdered following a row over infidelity and money.
Mandlenkosi Dube (38) strangled Precious Ncube (29) to death on 23 December before driving at top speed into a head-on collision with a bus.
The two were buried at Umvutsha Park Cemetery in Bulawayo, with both families still yet to convene to discuss the matter.
<a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/double-burial-for-girlfriend-killer-murder-victim/">Chronicle</a> reported that hundreds of people, who included businesspeople, politicians, friends and family gathered at Mandlenkosi’s grave, which was some distance from that of his mistress, whose burial was attended by few friends and family.
Mandlenkosi’s friend, who preferred anonymity, alleged that the late businessman had two wives and had left behind five children. He added:

What we are failing to grasp is why he would kill a sidepiece, a slay queen to be precise and then commit suicide when he has two beautiful women and lovely children.
He wasn’t in his right mind when he did this. This is not the Mandla we know. But since all has been said and done we hope for the best for his family and business.

Umguza district’s Ward 16 Councillor Obert Anos Mangwana said he owed his victory in the August 2023 general elections to Mandlenkosi. Said Mangwana:

We were supposed to donate stationery and uniforms to the children for the beginning of the 2024 schooling year. Now I don’t even know how I am going to explain this to them.
He was not just a friend, he was a young brother and a business-minded young man. He was also in charge of my campaign for being councillor of my ward and I owe it all to him.
</blockquote>
Mandlenkosi also sponsored a social soccer team and was in the process of building a police base in his district.
It is alleged that on the day of the incident just before committing suicide, Mandlenkosi sent a voice note to his family and friends notifying them of what he had done and intended to do.
In the voice note, he said he had fallen in love with Precious and had spent a lot of money on her.
Mandlenkosi allegedly said he had intended to use her and drop her but instead fell in love with her and that things became sour after a friend of Precious identified as Anele interfered in the relationship.
After killing Precious, Mandlenkosi reportedly tried to flee to South Africa using his white Mercedes Benz but then decided to end his life along the way.
He allegedly crashed his vehicle onto a bus along Bulawayo-Gwanda Road near Kensington shops where seven passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged.

Murder And Suicide: Girlfriend Killer, Murder Victim Buried

A 38-year-old Bulawayo man allegedly murdered his girlfriend in cold blood at a bed and breakfast lodge in Bradfield, Bulawayo last week before committing suicide by crashing his vehicle into a bus along the Bulawayo-Gwanda Highway.
The <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/girlfriend-killer-in-car-crash-suicide/">Chronicle</a> reported that on Saturday, Mandlenkosi Dube of Cowdray Park suburb allegedly strangled 29-year-old Precious Dube (pictured), from the Nketa suburb over an undisclosed dispute and money issues.
After committing the heinous crime, Dube allegedly attempted to flee to South Africa using his white Mercedes Benz but then decided to end his life along the way.
The alleged murder occurred around 5.30 PM before Dube crashed his vehicle onto an oncoming bus along Bulawayo-Gwanda Road near Kensington shops where seven passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged.
Dube reportedly suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot.
Police in Bulawayo said that soon after killing his girlfriend, Dube recorded and sent a WhatsApp message to his wife telling her of what he had done.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Bulawayo Province Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said:

From our investigations, we discovered that a male juvenile who was present when the incident occurred overheard Dube shouting demanding his money from the now deceased.
</blockquote>
She said the juvenile saw the now deceased running towards the cottage from the main house where she asked the children to call the police. Said Asst Insp Msebele:
<blockquote>
An enraged Dube was in pursuit and shouting. The children then scurried for cover as they too feared for their lives. Some ran and hid in their bedrooms while the others shouted for help.
The children who were peeking from their bedroom saw Dube wrestling with Precious, whom he was strangling and telling to die. He then left the room after about 30 minutes.

The children then emerged from their hiding places, only to see Dube lying motionless on the floor.
Asst Insp Msebele said the children then ran to the shops and narrated the incident to a vendor who then called their guardian who was in town informing her about the incident at the house. She added:
<blockquote>
She hired a taxi home and found her lying on the floor in her bedroom facing upwards… She was pronounced dead by a doctor at UBH (United Bulawayo Hospitals) and her body is at the mortuary awaiting postmortem.
</blockquote>
A report was made at ZRP Khumalo on the same day before police removed the body from the house.
Asst Insp Msebele said police officers who attended the scene of the crime discovered blood stains on the floor at the main house. She said:
<blockquote>
A shoe belonging to Dube was also found in the house. There were also blood stains on a blue decoration ball in the main house.
In the cottage, blood stains were found on the wall in the bedroom where she was murdered.
The deceased’s forehead had a minor cut and was swollen. She also had blood coming from her mouth.
Her lips and tongue were also swollen and had bruises on the neck from suspected strangulation and bruises on the right lower arm.
</blockquote>
The murder appears to have been a “crime of passion”. Crimes of passion, include cases of severe violence or murder committed in the heat of passion or response to strong emotional feelings.
In Zimbabwe, such crimes often emanate from intense emotions, jealousy, infidelity, or relationship conflicts.
