Premier Soccer League (PSL) chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele said that local football clubs are lagging behind in terms of FIFA and CAF club licensing tenets.
Club licensing is designed to improve club football by targeting key areas such as best practice club governance and youth football.
According to CAFOnline, the FIFA Executive Committee adopted the FIFA Club Licensing Regulations on 29 October 2007 and it came into force on 1 January 2008.
The CAF Club Licensing Regulations were approved on 19 January 2012 and came into force effective 1 March 2012.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Chicken Inn three-day strategic workshop, Ndebele <a href="https://www.bmetro.co.zw/clubs-lagging-behind-on-club-licensing-psl/">told State media</a> that as a result, the viability of some clubs is now under threat. He said:

Club licensing has been a big challenge, I think we are still lagging behind. We cannot really say we are happy about it.
Probably as a result of this, we have seen some clubs going bankrupt and some are now defunct because of a lack of implementation of club licensing regulations.
I think there is a need for everyone to get involved, all stakeholders, Confederation of African Football (CAF), ZIFA, Premier Soccer League and clubs to really put benchmarks and stick to them so that we will be able to implement the club licensing system, a standardisation programme meant to develop clubs into business units.

The three-day strategic workshop started on Monday is expected to end this Wednesday.
The workshop is being attended by Chicken Inn president Lifa Ncube, chairman Juta Tshuma, secretary-general Tavengwa Hara, treasurer Makhanyiso Moyo, administrator Clemence Matawu, board member marketing Trevor Jakachira and media officer Nkululeko Nkala.
Also in attendance are members of the technical department who include Joey Antipas, Prince Matore, team manager Sikhumbuzo Banda and security officer Shepherd Mpofu.

PSL Bemoans Clubs' Failure To Comply With FIFA & CAF Club Licensing Tenets

Premier Soccer League (PSL) chief executive officer, Kennedy Ndebele, is mourning the death of his 20-year-old son, Ndabenhle who passed away under unclear circumstances.
Ndabenhle was reported missing on Sunday having been last seen around 3 PM along Banbury Road in Montrose Suburb wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.
He was found dead near Plumtree Town according to <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/ndebele-mourns-death-of-his-son/">Chronicle</a>, and the family was said to be awaiting post-mortem results to ascertain how he died.
The PSL sent out a condolence message to the Ndebele family following Ndabenhle’s death. Reads the message:

We are sad to announce that the Premier Soccer League CEO, Mr Kennedy Ndebele has lost his son.
Our thoughts and prayers are with him and the family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), also sent out a condolence message to the PSL boss. It reads:

PSL CEO Kenny Ndebele's Son Dies

Prominent administrator Kennedy Ndebele’s 20-year-old son, Ndabenhle Ndebele, has gone missing.
In a message circulating on social media sites, the Ndebele family said Ndabenhle was last seen on Sunday at around 3 PM in the Montrose suburb in Bulawayo where the family resides.
The family is now in a desperate state to locate him or his whereabouts. Reads the message:

Ndabenhle Ndebele was last seen at around 3 pm on the 18th of September, 2022 along Banbury Rd, Montrose, wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts. If you have seen him or have any information about his whereabouts, please contact Mrs Rosemary Ndebele on 0773807713.
</blockquote>
Ndebele is currently the Premier Soccer League (PSL) chief executive officer.

Kennedy Ndebele Son’s Goes Missing

Premier Soccer League is hopeful that the COVID-19 outbreak will be under control to the extent that they will be given the green light to kick start the 2020 season in September 2020, The Sunday Mail reports.
This was revealed by PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele who revealed they were indeed pushing for football to resume in September:
<blockquote>We are hoping that we will be cleared by the authorities to start in September, subject to all other health conditions. We remain hopeful, subject to clearance by health and Government institutions. As far as we are concerned, we have not reached a stage where we can talk of season scrapping. You can’t scrap a season in July when the provisional date was August or September.
What will determine the return of the league is the recommendations of the Sports Medicine Committee and if those recommendations are accepted by Government</blockquote>
Ndebele also said they were not entertaining the prospect of the games being played in empty stadiums if they are given the go-ahead:
<blockquote>The possibility of playing behind closed doors is not possible. It’s not viable. Our clubs rely heavily on gate takings. Unless Government gives us clearance that we will not be paying for venues and other services like police and ambulance vehicles, then empty stadia are not possible.
We do not have television like in Europe and South Africa where every game is broadcast so this could impact negatively as the sponsors won’t get enough mileage.</blockquote>
Soccer or what the WHO calls contact sports have resumed in other parts of the world since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as evidenced by the resumption of the EPL in Britain.

PSL Hopefull It Will Get The Green Light To Start The 2020 Season By September

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Premier_Soccer_League" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Premier Soccer League (PSL)</a> has partnered with NMB Bank to introduce an electronic ticketing system to improve efficiency in the collection of ticket fees on matchdays.
According to PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele, the “tap and go” system will be similar to the one being used by transport utility <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_United_Passenger_Company" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ZUPCO</a>. Said Ndebele:
<blockquote>We are working on having an electronic ticketing system in the form of tap and go card; the one that is being used to pay in Zupco buses and at tollgates.
The system is convenient, as it doesn’t have network connectivity challenges. It is also faster than the swipe or mobile money payment methods.</blockquote>
The tap and go card payment was used for the first by the PSL during last week’s Herentals and Highlanders league match that ended 1-1 at the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/National_Sports_Stadium" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">National Sports Stadium</a> in Harare.
Football fans have often been denied entry into stadiums after failing to buy tickets through mobile money platforms.
